Marshals BBQ
Monoposto Racing Club "Meet the Marshals" BBQ
Saturday, 9th August 2003 At the Anglesey Double Header Meeting The MRC is inviting the Marshals to a BBQ as a way of showing appreciation for their support. The MRC will provide food and drink for the Marshals and Members are asked to bring whatever they wish to eat and drink. A gas fired BBQ will be provided at the Club Hospitality Unit. Please do try to support this MRC initiative to say thank you to a very important and often unrecognised group of enthusiasts. |

Is this at the BARC or BRSCC meeting?
Doesn't really matter though as I will be Observing at both events! Many thanks to the MRC for this invitation, it's good to be appreciated. Let's just hope the weather holds out!! |

Steve, I think that you should do something similar next time you're racing at Oulton. "Jamo's Meet The Marshals" ....perhaps at Fosters.....that's where you normally meet them! Is it true that you leave a toolbox there, behind the armco, so that you can do a quick-fix? Kidding, as always! |

Unfortunately I too will be unable to attend but look forward to meeting some of you in the Paddock when you visit Oulton at the end of July.

Sorry Anglesea is too far for me to go from Kent. But A big thank you to the MRC for the kind gesture and making sure that the marshals will be fed and very watred at the BBQ.
A club that is trying to do something well done. Others take note. Its a small price to pay to say thank you. RS. |

All I can say in mitigation is that he asked for it after asking me to explain what it was. To recap if I wish anyone good luck they have an expensive moment. There he was enjoying himself racing just in front of no 28, Mark Harrison, and when he didn't reappear I wondered what had happened and if all was OK. Thanx |

I was penalized for reading my final instructions!!!!!!!
At Outon they don’t run a green flag lap. At the start of the mono 2000 race I had such a fantastic start I led the first lap from 4th on the grid!!! The two drivers on the front row said they were a little confused why the lights came on and not a green flag. I was given a 10 sec penalty as it was said my ‘start looked too good’. A red flag was shown after 3 laps due to an accident and the grid reformed. But they put my penalty time on my first race laps and placed me at the back of the grid. I believed that any time penalty should be given on the end result???? Thus this had taken away any opportunity to protest such actions. So no fair trial. I didn’t jump the start and several drivers said they would back me up with that claim. This spoilt my days racing as I could only scrabble back up to 5th at the end of the race. |

Is it possible to be able to buy burger/beer etc for our partners or will they just have to watch us munching (!) away on our free tea? Mark |

I've just been informed by the BRSCC that if you are marshalling at Anglesey this weekend, you should have received an invite for this BBQ through the post. This is to enable the Monoposto Racing Club to determine how many of us will want feeding!!
If you haven't had the invite, and you're a bona-fide marshal, you need to contact Tom Dooley at the BRSCC NW - PM me if you need contact details! Last edited by Mark Mitchell; 7 Aug 2003 at 11:46. |

I think a HUGE thanks must go to the MRC for the BBQ on Saturday night.
Although I didn't partake, I've heard that your hospitality was first class and was appreciated by those who came along. These gestures are typical of the smaller clubs and of course they are extremely well received by those in orange!! Again many thanks! Mark |

I did attend the BBQ and enjoyed a 'couple' of beers and burgers - and very good it was too
Thanks to Monoposto for the food, the drink and the excellent racing. |

Like Mark, I couldn't stay for the BBQ but thank you for the offer. Gestures like that mean a lot.
On the subject of food (don't say I usually am!), BARC provided a packed lunch at Donington on Sunday and Ken Gibson brought round extra rolls, so it's not just the small clubs who think of us. Thanks to both MRC and BARC. PS SMMC still beat everyone with Walter's pies! |

Oulton regulars will remember.....
BARC nw used to have a BBQ after their event in the summer, where marshals were invited free and partners etc were charged a fiver or so. They've not done it for the past couple of seasons......anyone know why? This used to be a good one - served by the catering staff at OP and went further than just burgers/hotdogs. Mark |
