Is it me or have renault gone bonkers with the latest news story. Have they not got anything better to talk about?

oh !!
I think the news story is good, makes a change for some of the spotlight to be on the mechanics as opposed to the drivers all the time. And the lady in question is obviously good at what she does.

no. there is never anything to talk about in formula renault.
except the racing. and we didn't have any of that this weekend so it's a good excuse for a bit of off topic news. |

I see, thanks Bella. Why is this bonkers? I see no reason why a female couldn't be just as good as a male mechanic. Particularly with racing it's more about brain than brawn and my experience tells me that the lesser tendency of the female of the species to 'bull....' and to actually know and understand what they are doing before doing it could prove to be a major advantage!
Good luck to her. |

i think it's the concept rather than the actual story.
i assume it's because other girl mechanics who were there first weren't doing degrees. god, now mechanics need degrees. what is the world coming to... |

The story is clearly aimed at local press around Snetterton - it says it's her home race. Local papers will lap up stuff like that. As for the national press, I don't think they'd really be interested, especially as she's not the first female FRenault mechanic. Personally I was only interested in the fact that she goes to my uni.
