panoz.lmp1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
GOH Toyota LMP
The german motorsport magazion "Motorsport aktuell" reports today that there are some rumours that Goh will build up an LMP for Toyota Japan.

Why Goh and not TTE? Anyone heard something about this?

Haven't heard about it...

Why Goh? Probably because TTE is to busy with F1 and because they have an Audi R8 to use as a base...

Or they want to increase the pressure on TTE? Or they wanr Goh to build up the first version like the Kourus Sauber Mercedes and after "private" year they move the project to TTE as an Toyota Motosports entry?

In 2000 Goh improved also the BMW V12 LM.

I hope really that this story is true. Are there other sources, like Dailysportscar.net?

Yeah it is. But i can´t understand at the moment why Goh? OK, they knowq the winning BMW, the fast Dome, the beatiful Panoz and the unbeatable R8....

There has been a rummour about Toyota returning for quite a while. Remember that the ACO had a trip to Japan a couple of months ago when they spoke to several manufactors about returning to sportscar racing. If Toyota and Goh have linked up then, that good. I shall be watching the situation with interest.

That is what I understand, it race under the name Lola-Dome, there has been a couple out in this year British F3 Championship

Yes, RDJones, you are correct - call them Lola-Dome, or Dome-Lola if you want.

Martin Birrane (Lola' owner) is seriously looking for "new business ventures" to diversify his sources of income. With the CART market stalled (that category, let's admit, faces a serious crisis, and chassis regulations have been frozen until 2005) and sportscars in no better shape, Lola is making less money that Birrane had expected (he has admitted that).

Well, there might be some hope then!

If this news does bear fruit, and the companies involved do in fact link together, I sure hope that RfH and Jan Lammers are brought into the mix, what with his ties to Dome, and that team's ability.

I thought the rules would favor GTP, but all I keep hearing about is new LMPs.

From 2004 you have no GTP class.... only LMP1 amd LMP2, but you can start in both classes with cars with a roof

Hmm, SARD build the car officialy for Toyota, Goh will run the car and if they have success the entry changed to Toyota Motorsport like the Sauber Mercedes Story in the late 80s

Mr Goh is a very, very nice guy - exactly the sort that this sport needs. If he's doing anything new then we should all be very encouraged indeed.
