Anybody hear who might be taking over the helm at CART now? Mario, maybe? Dare we hope?
Rumours please! |

With the Motorola deal still up in the air and nowhere else to go, "Let Mikey try it."

All I've heard is that CART is looking for a 'Corporate Head-Hunter' type outfit to find candidates. If true, it doesn't seem they are looking for a Racer but a 'Bean-Counter'/Upper Management type to run the show. A mistake, IMO.

Yes, I thought we had done the "corporate suit" type CEO already and discovered you can't sell something if you don't know what it is.
Isn't there anybody qualified who wants the job and who is already in the organization? P.S. I have heard that Motorola Mikey will be announced today sometime. |

Why not at the USGP? That would be an ideal venue seems to me.
Which of them is driving in the Supercup, Mario or Mikey? |

My nomination goes to Chris Pook of Long Beach fame. He did a good job there probably could do a good job for CART.

Mario, along with lil Al, Paul Gentilozzi, and Randy Pobst. Probst is fairing the best, he finished 5th in one of the races.

Well, Hans, it may appear that Chris Pook will be given the job. He's got the support of Penske & Patrick, is a successful promoter and that's what CART so desperately needs right now.

Pook is the long time promoter of the LBGP, and is CEO(or something) of Dover Downs Entertainment, which owns tracks in Dover, Nashville(both the old short track and new superspeedway), Gateway, Memphis, and LB. Pook is probably the best person for the job, if only for the fact he stuck it to Bernie by switching LB to CART when Bernie wanted too much money Of course, there is an issue of the irl running some of his tracks(Gateway, Nashville), and the promotion.life the series gets from that. But certainly a minor issues, nothing that would prevent him from being ceo.

What's his stance vis-a-vis The Guy Who Ruined Indy?

Don't know. As a promoter, he's been working with both series: CART at LB and formerly Gateway, and irl at formerly Dover, and soon to be Gateway, Nashville
