Classic Illuminations Historic Rally - Blackpool
I'm doing the Classic Illuminations Historic Road Rally this coming weekend. Never having done this particular event before, can anyone offer any advice?
It looks finishing would be a result.350 miles, all day and and night Saturday + Sunday morning tests on the Promenade. Quote:

Did it once, a long time ago, it was absolutely fabulous, nearly changed from racing to rallying on the back of it.
The stages included a kart track, power station, MOD land, the mountains (may be hills but they were covered in snow), stately home, B roads, tracks and of course the prom. These equated to sprints, hillclimbs, regularity tests, autotests, etc. Advice, well check the car thoroughly as the going is tough but not impossible, carry a spare tyre, a can of the tyre repair aerosol, jack, a toolkit relevant to the car, rad seal, torch, etc. If the spare wheel lives under the car, put it in a bin liner along with some disposable gloves. Carry water for yourselves and some chocolate to nibble on, although if the rest halts are anywhere as near good as the ones we had all those years ago you'll need to go on a diet afterwards. Above all, enjoy the event and good luck. Last edited by carrera; 22 Oct 2003 at 20:22. |
