According to German magazine Motorsport Aktuell there is indeed a big chance Aiello will drive for Opel next season.

Lastest rumour from down under is that Laurent Aiello is set to join Paul Radisich in the new Triple 8 Betta BA Ford Falcon for 2004. In the V8 Supercar championship!

Why would you leave Audi for Opel? Aiello's not insane.

If Abt is 'displaced' as the front running Audi team next year, then why not.

The Opel Vectra could turn out to be a rocket? If it fails, then would i be wrong to think that this is Opel's final throw of the dice?

Firstly, who could possibly displace Abt? They have quite a lot of current DTM experience? Secondly, would Audi dare to displace them? Abt had almost singlehandedly got so much results and PR for Audi?

Abt is a private team. The rumour is Joest entering with possibly works backing, or at least more than Abt have the moment. If that does eventuat, then ABt will have been effectively 'displaced' as the leading team.

Aiello could come to Australia and race, I mean Vauxhall helped establish the Ford team here in Australia through a longstanding contract... which must be an issue for the Vauxhallians back at HQ...

Actually, Autosport had a news piece on Aiello's engineer moving to Opel, no mention of Laurent himself jumping ship ?

In fact, Aiello has stated that he will leave Abt-Audi because he's not satisfied with the program of Audi for 2004. He has been talking to Opel last winter and continued to do so up on till now, although Opel denies talking to Aiello. Anyway, whatever team Aiello will sign for, they will also have to sign with Aiello's engineer, because Ludovic Lacroix and Laurent Aiello are inseperatable. As Aiello said: "Ludo is part of the deal."

I don't think he will leave for Australia, because he has two small children who go to school in France, he has a house in Paris and near Bordeaux (Atlantic coast) and he also works as a DJ. I don't think he'll give all that up when he can get a drive in Europe which is just as good or even better.

O yeah, about Joest - Abt. Joest will probably participate with 2 new A4's and Abt with 4 new A4's. Maybe Audi will give a statement about it next thursday at the pressconference at the Essen Motorshow.

I do wonder whatever happened to the agreement between the constructors to enter each 4 new cars and 3 old cars. Mercedes won't enter more than 7 cars, meaning Rosberg has to go. He's now trying to race the DTM with Opel. Would that mean that Opel will enter 8 cars?

If Audi does try to leave Abt in the cold, would Abt try to race their DTM TT-Rs in the Independents cup and outrace/outshine the Works Audi cars? Didn't Abt threaten to do that back in the early STW days? Since Audi wouldn't give Abt newer A4s, Abt threatened to race the older Audi 80s?

Trust me, leaving Abt out in the cold is the last thing Audi will do.

Well, I bet any team could have run the AWD A4s and smoked their FWD counterparts.
