No pitbabes and Champagne at Bahrain GP
The prganisers of bahrain GP announced that there will be no pitbabes nor champagne at the race, because of being contrary to coranic principles. Any comments?

Its gonna be a dull podium ceremony! well, they could spary Coke at each other...and Bernie could get paid for allowing a certain company the rights to use their Cola! it all make's sence!

Not the first time this has happened--Keke Rosberg celebrated his WDC without (public) lubrication in deference to Williams' Saudi sponsors.
Fortunately no-one had to try and keep him from smoking... |

It's to do with their local customs & beliefs, when Alan Jones drove for Williams when they were sponsored by Saudi he had to celebrate with Orange Juice.

They won't even be given champagne in private, they have a zero tolerance when it comes to alcohol.

Under Islamic law in Bahrain women must cover themselves from head to toe which is why there will be no grid girls or promotional girls of any type at their G.P.

So lets see, Bernie takes a GP from canada and belgium for not allowing fag sponsors but invites a GP that represses women in their robes, and won't allow alcohol sponsorship. (Jaguar / Williams / Jordan) are 3 I can think of, off the top of my head which run Boozey sponsors.

i can tell you that drinks were offered by the Bahrainies at the party in MONZA ro celebrate the announcement of the GP!!
its more of a cover-up for the people. A country saying that they are ISLAMIC cannot offer drinks publically. the religious people would probably be enraged. they have to keep toi their customs in their own country at least!! |

France don't either.
If they're courting a Bahrain GP then of course they HAVE to respect their laws and customs. Champagne and pit babes are only as much a part of F1 as the shoes I'm wearing today are a part of me. To suggest that the F1 circus goes parading into foreign countries like the US army and flagrantly flouting their beliefs is outrageous. |

Same at Le Mans. Oh, where is Champagne from? And which race introduced the spraying concept? I am fairly sure France still allows 'babes'. |

Well, thank God they aren't allowing alcohol or pit babes. You just cannot have that in a country that is supposed to be Muslim. It would be like having a bunch of Devil Worshippers presenting the podium ceremony at Silverstone.

Cancel the race for them having no pitbabes. jk as for the booze it doesn't bother me as I think alchol advertising in motor racing is many times worse than cigarette advertising ever could be, and no I don't smoke, never have done and never will and have watched cigarette advertised Formula 1 since I was 10 years old!

No alcohol? in the form of celebratory champaign...hmmm.
I find it odd how the Bahrain Gp organizers wanted F1 sooo bad and they said the people there wanted an F1 race (needless to say they have had no international races of real consequence, or even a FIA approved track for any real races) so they want THEIR version of F1 not the infidel european-who invented the damn thing- type of F1... why don't they make their own then call it A1 racing. but then what if F1 was powered by Ethanol? would the cars never be allowed to run there? there are lots of laws that were invented in a time when Religion was the only base for safety and 'moral behavior' in society- that time is passed, Safety, good judgment and Decent behavior is recognized by good action and a good will towards your fellow human, the laws in place now in the States are even changing to see this- homosexuality for one is now 'not illegal' and same sex marriages are approved in Alaska, Hawaii, Massachusettes, and Connecticut (or is it Vermont?) either way it is not the 'religious "sacrament"' that is made legal that is another matter, but the acknowledgement of 2 individuals being partners for life irrespective of their physical sex, and gender roles. Marriage is a legal union with tax property and legal rights for the couple, now the religion aspects again is a totally different argument and arena- as it should be. Point being Church/Mosque/temple and State should be separate for the proper semination of ideas, cultural exchange, and societal growth- how else can you appreciate what is really yours unless you can sample the rest, if only in view...champaign and pit girls are part of the F1 circus and a celebration of Human Beingness! are not out Muslim brethren humans as well?- if they want berobed pit girls than use them! a girl all red robed for ferrari, an all green girl for jaguar, a Blue and yelllow covered girl for Renault- they could make it work. the champaign well maybe not, but again they could use 'sparkly grape juice' or Cola.... |
