Brands confirms loss of CART fixture

http://www.autosport.com/newsitem.asp?id=25326&s=54

UK company Brands Hatch Circuits Ltd has formally confirmed that its Kent road circuit will not host a round of the Champ Car World Series next year. "Brands Hatch was making plans to hold the London Champ Car Trophy in 2004, but CART has informed us that it is no longer its intention to hold a race here," BHCL's Andrew Waller told Motorsport News. "We're adjusting our plans accordingly."

What a bunch of @rse! Inevitable but I'm gutted

Ok, I must ask WHAT is going on with CART? Do we all here think there WILL be a championship next year? I'm just so amazed, for all the wrong reasons, that one of the worlds high profile series doesn't even know if it will be operating next year!?! I find it shocking

The race was pretty poor cos of the rules, but the cars were more impressive than anything I've seen before - more so than F1, Can Ams etc - the sound of those Turbo V8's and the gorgeous sight of seeing a pack of Champ Cars nose-to-tail on the opening lap will be something I'll miss next year. Oh well, that's my UK racing highlight gone

Cheers mate, I'll probably pop down to watch those guys scrap it out next time. At least I can say I've seen a Champ Car race, I suppose. It was an honour seeing Tracy and Bourdais - both were breathtaking (apart from Tracy's crash heading out of Druids on the Saturday - sorry Paul!)

FFords are class to watch, F.Renaults too is a good series as is F3. I've got to get up to Rockingham and see the ASCAR's - looks like a good series and the new SCV8 sounds interesting. BTCC is always a laugh. But, I spend most weekends at Buckmore Park, where I'm organising a race next year see the karting pages on this site I spend all my time there watching the Rotax lads, my g'friends dad races in the Rotax Max Challenge and there isn't any circuit racing apart from CART that gives that impression of speed as a spectator - awesome isn't a strong enough word! Karting is seriously under-rated - there are a LOT of SERIOUSLY FAST karters out there and it's a privelidge to get to get to know them and learn from them, so when I hit the track I'm at the sharp end of the grid! I've only karted 5 times, but was about 7th out of 100 odd at a big test day the other week - nothing is as much fun as karting! If you don't race already mate, do a 2-stroke C100 race - and enjoy!!!!! You'll love it

Thoroughbred Grand Prix Cars. Lots of old F1 cars, almost all of which are powered by Cosworth V8's. Heaps of old Williams, ATS, Tyrrels etc etc.....truly fabulous to see and hear.

Scott, have a butchers at my website (through my profile) have a look at that event and come down to that. You really want to get out on a 2-stoke, you are the perfect age to get to grips with it - if you can get sponsorship it'll cost you nowt, and it's a right laugh! The speed of a 100cc TKM kart is about 80mph maxed out and 5-60 in just under 4 seconds - it's an awesome 'stuck to the back of your seat' experience. Before you race head down and WATCH your mates (I don't know what they race in, but I will assume they are capable racers) and learn from them - where they are braking, turning in etc. Lydd is awesome, I did my first race there earlier this season! It's the fastest track in the country - a very simple layout - stright, chicane, straight, chicane, hairpin, straight, chicane, straight, double-apex corner, straight - but it'll blow your mind!

Get involved, I waited far too long and am already looking at next year for a full season. Nothing is as breathtaking as actually getting out there and racing - you will amaze yourself at just how quick you can drive - it'll boost your confidence and sharpen you up mentally as you have to make VERY QUICK and PRECISE decisions.

Have a butchers at my profile and you can Private message me - my e-mails on the site. Get involved - look at your signature, you want to race, so DO IT! It's a lot better than throwing ur money into drink and girls (don't tell my lady!). You'll be around people who are just like you - they want to race. It's a mini-world, but one that is great to be involved in dude!
