Danielson,
Weren't they the cars that were disqualified for running AVGAS. Ok, for those old enough to shave my 1975 XB 351 two door Falcon in Brutt 33 Colours. Arhhhh, the sound of a V8 on song, the smell of victory, the...looks like I got my years mixed up |

Don't spoil my fun, ARSE!!
I also hereby nominate Russell Ingall's SLX 'Silver Bullett' from last year's SCS. I also quite like the Shell Falcons: they actually manage to make an ugly car look rather classy. In terms of Super Touring, there are so many: Every Volvo S40 (the 1997 car especially, but also '98 and '99), Audi's A4 looked superb in any guise, as did the Alfa 155. If only the 1995 car went as well as it looked... Hmmm... what else? |

Hey David,
You left out about three touring cars that have competed in four continents over the last 20 years! OK, the all time favourite, the John Goss BRG Walkinshaw XJS. Or the black Murray Carter XB 2 door. Texaco Sierras, have you no sense of history???? |

Is there anything else you want to do to get in my bad books, Moffat?
Sun of Dan (or is it Son of Sam?)
1. Do you have sister? 2. The Goss car I thought didn't have the white flash down the side 3. I think maybe you'd better look at the post in the "tips for Bathurst" forum. Regards As Always, Your opinionated ex Touring Car Star Allan Moffatt |

Moff, I know i posted a longish list, but you have to admit there's not one dog amongst them. I know the Texaco Sierras were caught cheating, but that doesn't stop them being the best looking Sierras ever. The TWR Jags that won Bathurst in '85 did indeed have the white flash, you should know, you were there doing commentary that year.

IMS,
yes it's OK, how about we turn this one around and nominate the worst colour schemes? Plus the best from the current season? As this was awaugh's post I guess it's up to him/her? Regards Allan Moffatt OBE 4 Time Bathurst Winner "I raced GT's...... Now I drive on them." |

yes lets include the worst of all time. The best of this current season would be in my opinion the auto pro vt of rod nash and the worst of all time, mmmmmmmmm the commodore vs wayne gardner drove with stokel i think at bathurst and sandown a couple of years back. It looked like it was painted on with a paint brush.

Okay this is a good place to jump in. As a Grp1 Touring Car fella who normally hangs out in the Historic section of 10-tenths with a Talbot Sunbeam. I'm now looking at entering the pre90 series that will be run in 2001. Run to Grp1 regs it will allow much more modern tintops to compete. I can't look at the obvious M3/Cossie combinations as they are prohibitively expensive but I am looking seriously at both the Pug 405Mi16 and the Cavalier GSi. Does anyone have a good recommendation for ex-BTCC colour schemes for these cars? Clelands championship winning GSi in white and yellow was the most uninspiring colour scheme I have ever seen! Alternatively an original colour scheme would be considered.
Cheers Andrew |

Sick of white, hey, Mr Guy? What about Mallett Red? Goes faster, supposedly...
As for the Super Touring style colour schemes, how about for the Cavalier the red and white, as used on the Vectra. Alternatively you could go for the old 1993 jobbie, which looked quite nice. I'm sure Invader would have the odd picture of it. Or then there's the Scottish flag design... The 405 could be done in the rather fetching Esso colours, as used on the BTCC 406. That was smashing, even if the car itself was ****. At least they looked good finishing last... BTW, I'd love you if you bought a Cossie!! |

Go for a Cav. Paint it an original colour, or possibly the independant white/green style which I think appeared in 95/96, driven by Chris Somebody(?) My memory ain't what it used.. What was I saying? |

I like the suggestions for the Cavalier colour schemes but as of this morning I've gone and bought the Pug 405Mi16. Patrick Watts car looked good with the Total car, it was predominantly red with a white bonnet and white flashes on the car. I'm sorely tempted by that. The pre90 series is being run to pretty much the same rules as Grp1 and Grp1 cars will be eligible. Its not suitable for ex-BTCC cars as there are strict rules on weight, std sillohette (sp?), max wheel size and ride height. Other than that the engine internals are free, ditto gearbox, but stock injection and injectors (in the case of turbos) must be used. The Sierra/Sapphire Cosworth BMW M3 and Merc 190 Cosworth have been placed in a seperate class with a higher weight penalty. Although the Mi16 can't hope to compete on a BHP level with the M3 it will weigh less and probably have a better bhp/ton ratio. Time will tell. So this new championship should give you modern tintop supports yet another reason to join the CSCC crowd out on a days racing! |

As if we need another reason!!
Well done, Mr Guy! Can't wait to see the new series and your new motor. Have you got a buyer lined up for the Sunbeam ? Maybe you could convince Mallett to dump the Crapi and run that instead ? |
