Track Popularity Poll
Voted on the Procar poll today and noticed mine was the 300th vote, so I thought I'd post up a screenshot of the results as they stood. See attached file.
Any comments, thoughts? |

Well I am pleased to see Winton doing so well, and Queensland Raceway. I haven't even voted yet either!

Just checked up again and I'm sure Adam Ronke will be pleased to hear that Winton has taken the lead, by 7 votes... The next 7 consecutive votes after my screenshot as it so happens... er... um...

To be honest I still haven't voted! I am having a few problems even getting to the site. This darn computer doesn't want to do as it is told.

Am I reading into it too much but QLD Raceway is leading the polls and Winton is 2nd, they are the two circuits that have been in all the news at the moment for standing their ground from CAMS. Work that one out?

I wonder what would make people vote a paperclip shaped circuit as their most popular when we have circuits such as Bathurst which doesn't even get a mention on here! Out of the ones stated in the poll above, my vote would go to Phillip Island.

I believe the list is not worthy enough to have mention of the mighty Mt Panorama.

I'd say at a guess that the poll author took it as a given that most people would vote for Mt Panorama and was looking for people to nominate their next favorite circuit (should have said so in the question, however).
I haven't voted yet and can't decide what I would do - it sure as hell wouldn't be Qld or Winton. It'd be a toss-up for me between Phillip Island (climate notwithstanding), Oran Park (facilities notwithstanding) and Eastern Creek. On the whole I think I'd vote for Eastern Creek, although I'd be happy for the V8s to only go there once a year. |

and based on the Vee8's answer TC announces that the calender for 04 will change to have a 3rd v8 race at Eastern Creek as the majority of fans want it that way. The third race will be known as the Super Main Event of course run by the best promoters in the business, AVESCO

So why rely on PROCAR, lets start a 10/10ths poll for the same thing...

From what I can tell the poll is looking at the REGULARLY used race circuits as tracks like Indy, Bathurst, Adelaide and Sandown don't get a mention.

Winton would have to be one of the lesser circuits i would have thought.

I wonder if the poll is Ross Palmer's version of Tony Cochrane's "listening to the fans".
Maybe looking for a venue for a re-located Sandown round? |

smiddy,
have you ever been to winton? The facilities there would have to exceed those at any othe vic circuits. I haven't been to many tracks in other states so i can't compare to them, maybe someone could help out there? |

Winton is one of the very few tracks as a spectator where if you stand in one place you can see the whole track, it is very easy to circumnavigate. Winton have spent millions over the last few years improving many parts of the facility, both for the spectator and the competitor, they offer on-site camping, how many others do?. Need I go on? |

Winton is a good circuit though. The best way to guage a circuit is the closeness of the races held there over the years. A tight circuit like Winton provides tight racing and the viewing is good because it's close to the circuit. |

It can't be such a bad place they seem to have a lot of V8 testing there.

The results are a "little" suspicious. I would go for P.Island by a street.
Having said that, Winton is not that bad ... they've improved the track no end (plenty of passing and action last year) and the facilities are first class. OP is an OK track but try getting out of there. EC is OK also (could use a few minor alterations), Symmons needs track alterations to stay in the game, QR is bumpy and boring, Mallala too narrow and tight now and I havent seen Wakefield, although it looks OK on TV. |
