Mark Webber to race in Formula Vee?
I noticed in this months 750 Motor Club bulletin, amongst the list of new members, the name of Mark Webber of Milton Keynes. The F1 driver does have a house in MK so is this in anticipation of Ford pulling the plug, with Mark lining up a drive in Formula Vee just to keep his hand in?

He may be a member but I doubt you will see him in a Formula Vee.Williams or Renualt would snap him up in a flash.

I think he would rather go to another team in F1 and if nothing available either CART or IRL. |

I can't see his insurance company allowing him to race in another series.
Plus, should Jag pull the plug, another team would snap him up. |

I don't think that Webber will be that desperate for a drive for some time.

You lot take things a bit seriously! I didn't really think he would drive in Vee but I am curious why, if it is the Mark Webber, he would join the 750 Motor Club?

Hey don't laugh! In 1965 at Nassau in the Bahamas thay had a big sports car (Can Am style) race and everyone in US sports car racing was there. They also had a FVee race on the programme and people like F1 drivers McLaren, Amon, Rindt, lined up against the FVee regulars for the FV races.
We might finally see some humilty (and humanity)coming back into F1! |

I think that Mark Webber would walk straight into a V8 Supercar or Nations Cup drive if he came back to Australia.

Its obvious that he feels his career is so far incomplete as he hasn't yet raced at Cadwell Park
(I can't believe they're taking you so seriously either Barry ) Last edited by Marshal; 11 Feb 2004 at 22:23. |

formula Vee often provides better racing than F1, maybe it's testing for VW's entry into F1 in 2005.

Obviously it's because the FV and Jag have very similar handling traits, and so he's sneaking in a bit of extra testing. Always thinking is our Mark. It's this sort of Australian "thinking outside of the square" attitude that has given him that edge over his rivals.
Well sprung, Barry! If you hang around the Jag factory, you'll probably see them sneaking the FV in and out of the wind-tunnel late at night.... |

I think Mark's a light of other days...and the newbies in FV would be too good for him...maybe Carrera Cup now for MW in his twilight years.

In the past:
It would be interesting to see TGF, Rubens, Webber and the rest of the F1 grid in a FV or FF. With all of their engineers, telemetry and gadgets in F1, do you think they would easily beat the current FV and FF racers? Last edited by av8rirl; 12 Feb 2004 at 10:50. |

Some of them, yes. But not all; for instance Bruni and Treegardner.

Post deleted, this is not a place to get personal about drivers and their families.
