Good stuff. A couple of other surprises here:

Toyota seems off the pace, best Toyota was seventh, and that was Hornish. Did Hornish leave Panther to soon?

Besides an outstanding run by Rice, G-Force didn't look to good.

Herta continues to impress in a "developmental" car.

Dixon starting 12th, tough start for him.

Firestone looked very good!

Should be a great race though, with some new contenders in the hunt.

Very interesting to see Toyota a tad off the pace. If Hornish was still with Panther there is a good chance he's be on pole right now. You have to admit that moving to Penske seemed like the best move, especially long term.

I'd have to agree, that the move to Penske is a good one in the long run, but so far Chevy has been very strong in all of the tests, while Toyota hasn't.

We'll have to see how they do in the race though, before we can really make a judgement.

No, and yes. TSN occasionally carries ESPN feeds, but have their own exclusive programming. But we get all of the major networks.

great effort by Buddy rice , but with a team like Rahal behind I guess you can see why , lets hope he can turn this around into some good results this year.

Just a quick note on telecast times in Australia.

the race will be shown live on ESPN at 6am Monday morning , which really sux cause I have to work and finish at 7am monday morning (I guess I gotta set my VCR)

Ditto that, and you know what Bobby Rahal has said; if Buddy Rice is a championship contender by the time Kenny comes back (if he does), Rahal will field a second car for Rice regardless of whether they can pick up a sponsor or not
