How to Spice Up F1
Any ideas (Daft or otherwise) on how to make F1 more interesting?
I think that Pit Stops should be first! What we need is for the cars to actually have to pull up IN their garage. Then a team member needs to shuffle towards the car and after shrugging his shoulders, come up with something like "It's a big job......can't get you in till Thursday Week mate! Any more? |

All the cars should be forced to use Michelin Fronts, and Bridgestone Rears. And if it rains, they should have to use Michelin intermediates... That would be interesting

Go back to qualifying with low fuel, award WDC points for qualifying to prevent sandbagging, reverse order of top 8 qualifiers on starting grid. Yesterday's race would have had RB and MS running 7 and 8 at start. Guaranteed, using that format, there would not be 0 lead changes.

What is the deffinition of exciting racing anyway! If you really need to spice up something, I do believe that the best receipt is to ban all current TV directors. There's a lot of action mid grid, however the directors only choses to follow race leader or local driver. A Ferrari passing a Williams would be nice, but if someone claims himself as a "racing fan", a Jordan fighting a Minardi should be as much fun.

Hmm, reverse the order of the qualifiers? My guess is that you'd have alot of engines mysteriously blowing up, and noone would run the qualifying.

How about placing a ban on Michael Schumacher, i think that's the only way anyone's going to catch him.

Ban refuelling, bring back slicks, and get TV attention paid properly to the midfield.

Swap Schumacer to Minardi and have rent-a-driver running in the Ferrari.
AND a Silverstone special: A Deathrace 2000 Format with James Allen out running on the Track. The first one to knock him down for good gets 50 bonus points and a big thank you from the UK public! |

2005 rules:Every team, except Ferrari, is allowed to compete in the full season. Ferraris are not allowed to gain points from races outside europe. WDC/WCC decided by who scores most points.
2006 rules: If 2005 fails to produce a non-Ferrari winner, then while every team, except Ferrari, is allowed to register points in every race for the season, Ferrari can only score results at ItalianGP. Last edited by Gt_R; 9 Mar 2004 at 02:17. |

How about the old 'running to their cars' start, but with all the ignition keys swapped over.

Heh..yeah..while all drivers run directly to their cars from the pitlane, MS had to run one lap before he can jump into the car. Any drivers who manage to drive and overtake MS while he is running can score 20 points if they succeed in knocking him down.
Ooh..to spice up the points table, MS would be deducted 5 points for every hit he sustain. |

My biggest complaint about the Ausi GP was not that Ferrari won, but that Williams couldn't pass. The Williams cars appeared to be faster than the Renault, BAR, McLaren and Jaguars (these four being very close). We have a sort of standard wing now, but they seemed to lose a lot of momentum when the cars got close. On the straights the Williams had more HP, but with that big wing they should be able to draft by, even if the air is taken away on the corners.
I think Williams will get closer to Ferrari as the races go on. I think we could still have a good F1 year. Heck if the Michellins perform better in the hot than the bridgestones (like last year), then we could have it in 2 weeks. Last edited by Snrub; 9 Mar 2004 at 02:41. |

Tuscan R, So far you have the best suggestion.
Make it 100 points if you can launch him into the crowd. |

Pit babes! Literally.
Imagine some busty young schnappy wrestling a tire or handling the refueling hose... oops, sorry, I guess I got carrried away. But I'll bet Moffat and Bononi endorse my idea! |

Eliminate the one engine rule. Go back to last years qualifying rules but allow all the cars to qualify together and then send them to the park ferme for the night.
Eliminate fuel stops and make them carry the full load at the start of the GP. That for a start would make the races alot more interesting. |
