More improvement from BAR?
The TOV site has an snippet from an article about potential changes to the BAR005. If this is true then the huge steps forward that JB, Willis and crew keep mentioning may actually come true. Being one of the 3... no maybe about 5 BAR Honda fans here this is great news. Lets see if its pure speculation of if it shall come to pass. What struck me the most was the quote

This was highlighted in Autosport last week.
The mentioned the extra vertical 'end' plates seen on the BAR rear wing and said something about messing with these to create a legal third plane. I thought it was more likely to be used for the same reason there are lots of vertical planes on the Subaru. Which, as I understand it, is to reduce the effects of car attitude and cornering on downforce levels. |

Autosport (25/3/04) also mentions BAR are looking at a 'innovative suspension system'. There is a quote from Willis that mentions they are looking at controlling the contact patch. It sounds very much like the system Renault were looking at a year or so ago.

Well, there's something I've thought about for about 9 years now. I can remember an article about 'wake turbulence' way back and how it affected overtaking. Was about 14, and thinking:
"Well why not just put a few thin vertical plates on to help 'guide' the air over the blades for those situations and cross wind conditions?" I know about drag and how the regulations state there must be so much diametre to the front edges, but it seems there is a way to do it. |

Now wouldn't that just look menacing appearing on the front of a Honda.
Introduces the simple way of solving the overtaking business. "I have a snow plow and I'm not afraid to use it!" |

May faith in the boy racers of Cheshire will not be restored until one of those WRC spoilers (ok, a fake cheap plastic carbon "look" version) finds its way onto a street Impreza ... or (more likely) debadged Nissan Almera ...
Wonder if there's much common thought/discussion/co-operation goes on between the various Prodrive linked teams? If rules allow, that could be a BAR wing of the future... |

Yes, like i've pointed out in another thread, that Williams too had asked for a "clarification" to BAR's new rear wing, when the top teams start to limit your technical advances, they are taking you seriously and it's a testament of your improvements..
