C10 coverage
Can someone please explain to me why we miss laps (and action) during commercial breaks when the telecast is delayed by an hour and a half?
Why can't they continue where they left off before the ads. All the action seems to happen during the breaks (eg. Toddler's triple treat). |

I am waiting for Crompton to announce that he is pregnant with Mark Skaifes baby. It has been said before but it needs to be said again, Crompton is far to biased to be a good commentator

It amazed me today that Mr crompton went off on one of his rants while a very swift Mr kelly was passing cars in an aggressive and entertaining display right on our monitors.
I will go on record to say again after his rebirth at Adelaide that Mr A Noonan needs to be given an opportunity to demonstrate to my learned colleagues what the public want to hear. Over the years I've listened and reworked how I produce the commentary at the circuits when I am bought in to do so and it seems to me that I am hearing things alot different to Ch10. Opinions and banter have thier place but while major action is occuring right in front of you ,please call that, and do not inflate the already well rounded ego of one"s self. I will standby what I say and will discuss any of my comments with the Celebrity Announcers if they so dare to come to a public forum. My email address is available and am contactable by a landline if that is what they prefer. I may sound like I also have an ego and that may well be true but at least I listen to my peers and the listening public and have reacted accordingly. It is not by any measure an easy task to perform and I will say that I have also missed the occassional bit of action while looking out of the commentary box but when it is on the monitor in front of you why can't you see it(At Qld Raceway the Ch 10 suite is right beside mine and blacked out with heavy tint film so as the team are not distracted or harmed by the bright sunlight or the outside world). Please guys take a leaf out of my book and ask the public what they wan't not tell them what you think. If you have to "fill" when the racing becomes a litle less exciting use that huge knowledge you have then as I'm sure we will want to here it, not fill the airwaves with your educated banter when It's the racing we want to watch while it is happening. |

Has the home of motorsport publicly discussed the issues of the 3 pseudo franchises just yet?

Bring back Denyer from Ch7,as nice as Darrell is he has had a carisma bypass for the role of on camera presentation.
It is only his profile that keeps him employed and his relatioships with the team owners and drivers |

What a bloody mob of wingers you lot are!!
Your lucky to have such a wide variety of motor sport coverage on a free to air channel. Oh i forgot your all armchair experts, and nothing any channel put up would be good enough. Just enjoy it for what it is. |

The commentaters still need to be told that;
A) We are watching the same pictures they are (generally). We can see what is happening on the screen, they need to inform us about what we can't see, not the blatantly obvious which is on-screen, and: B) As we can see the action, we know whether a race is a good one or not. I absolutly hate it when commentators continue to call a boring race as if it is the best one they have ever seen, talking it up all the time. Find something interesting to tell us, not scream and shout about how exciting it is watching a freight train of cars doing not alot more than participating in a procession..... |

The telecast is OK, it' certainly better than at 11:30 pm on Sunday night when the GP is on.
Crompton known what he's on about and has the cockpit knowledge to back himself up whenit's all said and done. HRT bias, well HRT were fast but ultimatelt out of the picture and nowhere did I see anything other than kudos to the relevant deserving parties. Last edited by Mattracer; 4 Apr 2004 at 13:08. |

It's interesting to study the '3 phases of Crompton'.
He has commentated on Touring Cars on three different networks (ABC, 7 and 10), and on all three he has done it in a different way (or is it the networks tell the commentators different ways to call the action) |

The Boss of BMX (Neil Crompton) he will know what I am on about is biased...maybe he is the enduro driver for SHRT this year.
On the whole C10 get it right...but to come back from an add & show us what happened during the ad break is not on when it is delayed. |

I personally think that Neil Crompton does a pretty reasonable job. He is by far the best offering from Ch10 in a long time. Beats Matty White by a long shot. I have a thirst for the technical info and Neil is actually capable of commenting on this side of things very well.
I think the thing we have to be grateful of is that he does at least have a vast amount of knowledge when it comes to motor racing, and hasn't just been plucked from the Sports Tonight desk. As far as bias, I hadn't noticed it much and always thought he did a good job in that regard. Although I will admit he defended HRT a lot yesterday and can see how that looks bad from a Ford supporters point of view, but usually he's pretty good. I always felt Matty White had a bias towards the Ford boys, I guess it depends on what side of the fence you sit on yourself. |
