Parking Lot GP in LAS VEGAS almost ON ?!
another thing I neglected to post here yesterday, sorry...
------------------------------------------ Finally there is some good news regarding the season closer = http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/st...516711684.html Too bad that it will be in a parking lot of Mandala Bay (as I've been saying for the longest, btw)... no, it isn't confirmed yet, but there isn't any other option this year - next year Wynn Vegas Casino grounds will most likely host Champcars, but this year only the huge parking lot and space around the Mandala Bay casino are suitable for consideration... and nope, there won't be any U2 concert - they'll be in Asia at the time... zerO |

well they used to have an F1 race in a car park out there years ago so why not a Champcar race ?
as long as the track provides plenty of room for passing then I dont see a problem with it. |

This is great news. This was the big "unknown" race, we were planning to go to. If our plans go right & they can pull this race off, we will be going to 4 CC races, this year.

I was hoping for an oval race at LVMS, but a street race (parking lot) will do for now! Will the race in LV be the 16th or 17th race of the season?

I'm not all that in favor of a purely parking lot race. The small street courses don't tend to be as good. It's difficult ot have a good layout with a limited space. It seems like CART tracks need to be atleast close to 2 miles to stand a chance at being good. Ultimately the most important things are that people show up, the race is good so that people continue to watch and money is made.

Eurospeedway is still there, the oval unused and unloved. But 100,000 people reported at Hockenheim for DTM.
If you like ovals follow IRL or NASCAR,europeans do not like them! Last edited by Rob29; 22 Apr 2004 at 06:29. |

.. but One point: I don't think Europeens don't like ovals, shure it's a new and strange type of racing in Europe... but remember the German 500 back in 2001 with more than 84.000 fans on the sunday race... so it's more a question of doing a good promotion ( and the promotion and advertising of this race was really low)! And the thrilling experience of an oval-racing you only get live on the track... |

In the meantime my "love" for ovals has been cryogenically put to storage until the right time comes... besides, there still is a very distinctive possibility that IRL will implode (when Honda and Toyota leave) and around 2007-08 TG might come begging OWRS to run the Indy and ten we all will be verrrrrrrrrrrry happy ?! zerO |

geeeez, I just noticed that it's a Vegas thread... anyhow, an oval race in Vegas is completely out of the question - it even never was considered by KK and/or GF ?!
