Are they trying to hide the evidence of blatant pork pie consumption? What else could cause a spill that spectacular, although I suppose it's pretty tame by Clio standards - only one car!

Bit of a delayed reaction actually. I had a large pork pie on post 3 on Saturday, but had to wait for Sunday for this incident.
The gap in the fencing this year only allows for one average size marshal so when there is an incident the "blue man" dives headlong back through the gap to make room for the yellow. That is what you can clearly see here. |

Or... You can clearly see the footprints in the gravel trap where these marshals have run onto the circuit, swept the excess gravel off, and dived back behind the barriers.. all before the dust has settled.
If the camera had been pointing a little higher, you would have seen the raw material for tomorrow's pork pie going by overhead. |

or.. as the car rolled, a fifty pence pice flew out of the driver's pocket and over the barrier. The marshals can clearly be seen diving to be first to catch the reward.

Apparently the Marshal with white hat on, is 'The Lesser Spotted Bald Eagle' from Ipswich, I have e-mailed him advice on how to get the stains out - Balders

I think that quite obviously, they were expecting the car to clear the barrier, and come down the other side of the gap in the fence. Drivers being drivers, he didn't do what was expected and landed short.!!!

I was on post 2 for this and it was our yellow flag that frightened this clio driver and if I remember rightly, the cheeky girls (who were at the event) were giving post 3 a private little sing song behind their post, so that was why they were turned away!

That explains the report I got from my flaggy who said "I was looking at a clit" I thought it was a spelling mistake.

I think its nice to see Clio drivers getting into practice this early in the season. Obviously post 3 was being tested. Next time out they will throw themselves at it in pairs now they have found a chink in the armour.
