"Average" grid times: Spain
After GP Spain, three tables showing:
1) Median of differences to pole (normalized to 1'20" lap) 2) Average diff to pole for each team (dropping the worst 2 and the best 2 of the 10 qualifications) 3) Team mates differences according to table 1, and scores between them. Code:

At Renault we have the most interesting intra-team competition. Then Sauber.

Pantano is being demolished by Heidfeld (but not 5-0, though).
The other two teams with clear differences are Jaguar (MW >> Kl) and Minardi (Br >> Ba), but woh cares about Minardi if those two ends 5 seconds off-pace? Curiously, the two 5-0s are in teams without great differences. One would say they have two great drivers with one clearly better than the other, but not by much. I see only two "surprises": DC > KR and FM > GF. I think those are where we can find the most interesting meaning of that table. |

Note that Kimi and Fisico each had to skip two and one qualifying sessions due to mechanical trouble, right?

Yes, Kimi has been heavily penalized by two blows in qualifs, but I have been a bit disappointed by KR in Spain in the whole weekend. I suppose he in the end will overpass DC in qualifications. We know Coulthard is not exactly quick in one-lap format.
GF has been penalized too by mechanical failure. However, Fisichella has been considered a fast driver, Massa holding a fight against him is a interesting feature. Is FM starting to shine in F1 or is GF's motivation beginning to wear out? |
