Greatest supertourers ever
How do you think are the greatest supertouring drivers ever of any national series?
Mine are.... 1. Alain Menu 2. Jo Winkelhock 3. Steve Soper Was never really a Menu fan but think he was probably the fastest man in a supertourer |

After seeing some of the old 90's BTCC reviews, Soper like yourself would be high on my list - his fight backs through the feild were amazing, even if it did decide the championship
Menu was a class act, just in 1998 he show'd himself up and lost out in being runner-up. For me then its Steve Soper...just a shame he didn't have the car to show his worth in 2001. |

it took three posts for someone to mention Cleland.
Cleland would definately make my top 10. But he seemed to shy away when in the big events like the end of season Eurpean Challenges. I do miss big John though. |

I'd have to say Cleland, he was always battling, always trying and a hard but fair racer. He had so much passion, and his 1995 championship victory shows how much the BTCC meant to him.

and neither Biela or Pirro, but it´s so difficult to say just four or five drivers. |

Rydell, Biela, Menu, Winkelhock, Aiello.
And a special mention for Peter Kox; that 1996 mini-season in the BTCC promised so much... |

Well, If Alan Gow's latest plan materialises, we could very well see some of those names back on the grid! Last edited by touringcarnut; 9 Jun 2004 at 20:09. |

steve soper's mentioned on that list. Is he trying to kill him?
I really would like to see Rouse back again, when he came out of retirement to do britcar he blew everyone away. Incidently watching Rouse in his Kaliber RS500 on grandstand is one of my earliest motorsport memories. Last edited by alesi95; 9 Jun 2004 at 22:37. |

From an Aussie point of view hows this for a selection of drivers that will compete in this years Bathurst 1000 in October: Jason Plato, John Cleland, Alain Menu, Yvan Muller, Paul Radisich, Craig Baird, Alex Yoong, Max Wilson & though he is an Aussie, David Brabham. Not a bad selection to take on Australia's best in what is undoubtably, the best touring car race in the world, bar none!
