Can you give a summary for us non-American viewers?

Yes, I caught the interview with Sam last night, but it was on so late, I couldn't keep my eyes open to type anything!
Sam is a pretty serious guy when interviewed, and he didn't reveal anything earth shattering, but here are some interesting thoughts from him: On road racing, Sam thinks its great, and is looking forward to doing it, but he doesn't want to see to many road courses, 2-4 tops, because he doesn't want to lose what made the IRL what it is, the ovals.(I agree!) On Toyota problems, Sam said they aren't to far behind, and that they are working hard to come up with some added HP, but he admits, that Honda is also doing the same. He did say that Toyota was "committed" to the IRL and winning here again. Good news! On Team Penske, Sam said they are the hardest working team he has ever been around, and are sticklers for details. He is extremely happy to be there. On NASCAR, Sam said he has zero interest right now, but it could be a possibility way down the road. All he ever wanted to be, was an IndyCar racer, and he wants to win the Indy 500 more than once. He feels its the most important race in the world. Refreshing to see a man follow his true passion. On this year, Sam said he has been very frustated. He has been in the wrong place to many times, and taken out, when he's been running well. Alot of guys could say that though. He is still confident that they could take the championship. Thats about the gist of it. Dave is a great interviewer, and is always worth staying up for... |

It was a good interview....
Sam also mentioned that they were competitive until the change went from 3.5 L to the 3.0 engines, and Honda's edge has been notable... The only reason why NASCAR came up was because some caller from Charlotte asked him... Dave was focuesed on where Sam is now...and where he soulds like he'll stay!!!! At least for a good while... His only consolation today is that he is the fastest Toyota in MIS practice.... But he is 11th on the chart.... |
