Simon Hill on Motors TV
Can someone explain to me what is Simon Hill's role on Motors TV?
Is he the commentator or is he the "expert/former driver"? Whatever he is it seems he wants to dominate proceedings at all times. I think John Hindhaugh and Richard John Neill must be very patient and very generous as he constantly interrupts them, ALWAYS wants to be commentating as the winner crosses the line and is desperate to give a full analysis about anything on or off the track. May be the producers give the commentators a lot of freedom and let them sort it out amongst themselves but at times, well most of the time, I find him just TOO much.... |

I don't have Motors, but have known Simon for quite a few years (since he raced in FRenault).
There is a simple solution to anything you don't like on your television... it's called the off switch |

But it's not the answer if you actually want to watch the race... Maybe turn the volume down?

I think Simon does a good job.
Richard John Neil for me is far too shouty - he needs to learn he can create excitement by raising his tone rather than the volume. And he sounds like Richard Bacon. |

Yesterday the gap between all the red lights coming on and going out gave me a chance to hit the mute button before JA shouts "Gooooooooooooooo". I didn't hear him say this but as he says it at the start of every race so I'm guessing China was no different. |

Well, he doesn't know the difference between an Antonov and an Ilyushin IL-76T, but we'll let him off on that, because he was 'told' it was an Antonov

As far as I am aware Motors TV is not available on Freeview, it is however available on Sky, as a free to air channel.

Simon's great in my opinion, enthusiastic, knowledgable and is coach to one of the drivers in the Clios, so has contact he can use to pass on the latest info, hot off the....err...paddock!
Yeah, he has a bit of the "I want to be lead commentator and jump in whenever there's something to shout about" syndrome, but none of his co-commentators (Ben Edwards, John Hindhaugh or Richard John Neil) seem to mind. Or if they do, they keep it VERY close to their chest! |

Resurrecting an old thread here, but it has been announced that Motors are keeping the same team as last season, so you'll be able to hear Ben, Tim, John, Richard and Simon again.
