I would have been more impressed had they shown us a photo of the successful demonstrators....

Bloody political correctness - the guys were stood down for that one. I think it made more people laugh then it did offend people.

They train to go overseas and kill, or to protect our families.
Sometimes sitting at base and just doing static training can get boring. Thats tame compared to alot of the in house stuff that goes on. |

I must say that while i personally didn't find the banner offensive & think that the media has over reacted in their coverage of the incident the Army personnel involved were stupid in their actions as they were there to represent the Army & i don't think that there are too many bosses around that would approve of their employees hanging that sign out while representing the company.

It comes down to military conduct. Certainly can see a DFDA s.60 Prejudicial Conduct charge coming their way very shortly. |

Funny??? Hell yeah.
Appropriate? Perhaps not... A bit like the hordes of Police wandering around Indy showing the sign. Or the Firies. Or the CART Crash Team. What was that John Farnham song? "Seemed like a good idea...at the time..." BTW I like the notice on their website As these are anonymous forums the origins of the contributions may be opposite to what may be apparent. In fact the press may use it, or the unscrupulous, to elicit certain reactions., Maybe a bit of that medicine would go down well here... |

Well the Arabs won't invade if they know that goes on - it goes against religious practice to allow women out in public in anything less than a fully-enrobed outfit, including a veil and head gear. This is the kind of hi-jinks that we never see from the host broadcaster. I still believe that the Aussie Supercar broadcast is better than the NZ one, where we usually jump in on the warm-up lap and watch from there. |

Forget that Lowndesfan, they are now in the public eye.If Womens Lib decide to kick up a stink, tghats bringing the ADF into disrepute.
Person holding the sign will get either courtmarshalled or demoted with a nice little red flag on his permanent record (and if you're in the forces, you'll know that red flag will disapear if you're nice to your next OC anyway, so it's a slap on the wrist), and the Commanders right the way up from platoon to regiment will probably have their career's shortened or suddenly find a new ADF Career path layed out for them... I know of a few guys who had "Honk if you're Horny" written backwards (so could be seen in a rear view mirror) placed on the sun visors of their Unimogs a few years back. The instigator was a SGT, is now a Lance Jack, and the rest were told they were naughty people. Then Again, it's not a smart thing to do if you are aware your divisional commander is supposed to be in the area on that day, is it? |

Even though I find it amusing, it was a stupid thing to do. Did they really expect that someone wouldn't take offence? Now they are in the **** well and truly, and the media & do-gooders are going to crucify them.

Standing someone or a group down is just like holding them in a cell for 24 hours. Give you time to investigate and lay charges.
Or, in the public eye, see how much reaction you get, and "possibly" let it slide. Not that this has ever happened before...... |

Once again we see more evidence of the death of the 'Aussie Larakin'
Political Correctness has made such a wonderful contribution to Aussie Sport. |
