Robin Miller, 33 year veteran auto racing and sports writer for the Indianapolis Star-Telegram has been fired. Robin Miller's shoot from the hip style and often caustic commentary on motor racing has earned him many enemies and a legion of fans. The newspaper will not release any reason as to the sacking and Mr. Miller has not been reached either.

Never one to stick to convention or the populist view, Miller is best known for his candid outspokenness conserning the split between CART and the IRL. He quickly made enemies of A.J. Foyt and Tony George concerning the division of the series. Co-workers and friends of Robin Miller expected this to happen as the Indianapolis Star-telegram had been purchased some months ago and the new owners had been vocal in their dislike of Miller.

I hope he turns up writing for RACER and Haymarket before its all over. The man has been a fixture in the American racing scene for too long for him to fall off the Earth.

He's bringing suit against the Star over the manner of his dismissal. He termed the act "a witch hunt".

Should be interesting to watch!

Is he the writer that made all the disparaging remarks about all of the "foreigners" at the USGP?

I've never heard of him. Where can I read this about the "furriners" in the US of A?
