More Unanimous Elections... CAMS this time

Pinched from RaceNews/cams.com.au etc

CAMS
Dec 22 2004
OSBORNE RE-ELECTED AS CAMS PRESIDENT

Colin Osborne, President of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport
(CAMS) since 2001, has been re-elected for a further two years as
Chairman of the Board of CAMS.

The final CAMS Board meeting for 2005 also saw Board members Bob
Glindemann and Peter Marcovich elected as Senior and Junior Vice
President respectively and director Kevin Moore re-appointed for a
further three years.

Osborne, who has served on the Board of CAMS since 1993 and is currently
a competitor in the Australian Production Car Championship, was
unanimously re-elected.

"I am extremely pleased that the Board of CAMS has seen fit to re-elect
me for a further two years.

"Over the past four years, the Board, while working closely with the
CAMS administration, has been able to achieve a number of significant
milestones such as excellent progress of the CAMS Strategic Plan,
dramatically improved working relationships with circuit operators and
the renewal of CAMS insurances in an extremely difficult environment.

"In addition to these milestones there has been the arrangement and
implementation of a sponsorship agreement with Bosch and significant
advancement of CAMS sport development programs both within the
administration and through the Australian Motor Sport Foundation, all of
which help to strengthen Australian motor sport.

"There has also been a culture shift at CAMS towards an inclusive
organisation, operated by and for all competitors, officials and
affiliated clubs and members. I believe that there is still a long way
to go and am pleased that I will be able to play a part in this area."

Two Board members were farewelled at the final meeting, Stuart Kostera,
who served as elected member for Western Australia for nine years, and
Andrew Papadopoulos, who served on the Board for three years as the New
South Wales delegate.

Osborne said of the two, "I express my sincere thanks to Stuart and
Andrew for their hard work and support over their time on the Board of
CAMS. Andrew's guidance as Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee
has significantly improved CAMS' financial direction resulting in CAMS'
current strong financial position. I am pleased that Andrew will
continue to Chair the Audit and Finance Committee in 2005.

"Stuart has provided valuable input as the Western Australian delegate
and as portfolio holder of historic motor sport and I wish him well for
the future."

Two new Board members will be welcomed when the Board of CAMS holds its
first meeting for 2005 in January. Alan Cook will replace Kostera as the
elected director for Western Australia and Robert Cutler will replace
Papadopoulos as the delegate for New South Wales.

The members of the Board of CAMS for 2005 are as follows:
* Colin Osborne, Chairman
* Bob Glindemann, Senior Vice President (Appointed Director)
* Peter Marcovich, Junior Vice President (Elected Director,
Queensland)
* Robert Cutler (Elected Director, New South Wales)
* Robert Piper (Elected Director, South Australia)
* Kevin Shaw (Elected Director, Tasmania)
* Peter Bready (Elected Director, Victoria)
* Alan Cook (Elected Director, Western Australia)
* Kevin Moore (Appointed Director)

Is it just me or is there an epidemic of unopposed, unanimous elections going on at the moment???

What opponents put up their hands then? If you can't go further, don't make presumptions and stir the pot.

Maybe Mick Ronk or Bob Jane should nominate next time.

Although I am not sure Bob is still a member of CAMS.

I was actually thinking that it is more than coincidental that the mutual admiration society over at TEGA & AVESCO, and CAMS as well have all reappointed their fearless leaders, in press releases stating they were reelected/their contracts continued unopposed, and with the unanimous support of the board.

Yet all 3 players have obvious issues in the business operations they represent... which begs the question... How is this possible?

Mick was on the Board of CAMS from 1978-1982, whilst Bob Jane is a Member of Honour of CAMS http://www.cams.com.au/content.asp?P...ut&ObjectID=62

GTRMagic, you should know how these type of businesses operate, in businesses similiar to this the CEO is very good at only telling the Board what they need to know, but leave out all the really good stuff.

Matthew, I am really pleased Bob and Mick are in the CAMS archives/system forever, that has just made my day.
