James Courtney
Does anyone know what the Assuie Driver James Courtney is up to this season, I have been away in England for the last few months and have lost track on the his news. Last, I heard he was still racing is Tokyo but was living in Oz again.
What with all the changes within the F1 Teams I was looking forward to seeing him test driver again. Any news would be great as i'm so behind. cheers guys x |

He'll be in Toyota's top team for the JGTC. Let's hope he gets a reasoable co-driver.

It has always been known as Japanese GT Championship, but will be changed to Super GT Championship as the series attempts to become more internationally recognised (they are racing in America, China and Malaysia this year).
It is a huge championship in Japan with considerable factory support (particularly from Toyota and Nissan). James will indeed be Toyota's number one in 2005 (let's hope he gets the go-faster bits nice and early). I'm pretty sure James is currently living on Queensland's Sunshine Coast and travelling to Japan. I believe he will shortly marry his fiance. |

Well said, what has happened to the boy??? I don't think he ever recovered from that crash at Moza. Bella, what's the story about the whole personal view's thing??? Not more comments about Jame's love life again. Surely not.....

I think we'll see him in open wheels again soon enough. Toyota are always keen on supporting their drivers, and Courtney is one of their best.

Toyota Japan appears to have waved a big fat cheque in front of him, and James appears to have decided that getting treated like royalty in the land of the rising sun is a good thing. And the Sunshine Coast of Queensland (where James is living) is a mighty fine part of the world to be! He appears to be trying to work something out for a ride in Formula Nippon as well, so you may get to see him in single seaters again. |

He's still managed by Alan Gow, who was quoted in Autosport as saying they're not seriously looking at Nippon this year.

Why doesnt he do V8s I mean he is loads better than Marcus Ambrose (not saying hes bad cos hes not) and should be more than capable of getting himself a top drive.

V8's are where you go to retire or when you run out of talent OS. I don't think he's over the hill just yet.

No, he will only be doing Sandown and Bathurst - the enduro rounds where teams require co-drivers.
He has signed to drive at HRT - the "factory" Holden team - for these races. |

Yes, well those are the "end of season" rounds.
It's still more than those who claimed he'd never go near a V8 would have expected! |
