Sounds too good to miss. I've checked the website but can't find an entry form. Am I being too keen or not looking hard enough?

I'm sorry but there must be a catch. £50! Is that for both drivers or for each driver?

No catch just a way of introducing 2 drivers to the Series and the £50 covers a "bit of Admin" and permit fees. You may be a bit quick off the mark as the time of my post , just after midnight may indicate. If you want an entry form send me a PM and I will send out asap either by "snail mail " or EeeeeeeMail ! ( yorkshire version)

Thank you for clearing that up. Wow, what an offer. It is a shame I don't have a car, but I will see if I can come and marshal instead.

Hopefully I'll finally get a chance to square up to my old mentor then! See you on the Saturday for the traditional pre-race bbq, soft drink and Track Walk!

If this became the norm it would totally revitalise club racing and double or more the number of people takiing part.

Those who can support it and show what could be done for the benefit of competitors, spectators, - and indeed clubs and circuit owners ! ..........who have a bit of foresight.

Agreed, I have re-applied for my licence now after letting it lapse and have two usable cars and at this sort of deal will be out for sure.

Don't get too excited by this. It will be a one off to try and get some new competitors to the series and club. The price will be back up to the normal fee for the next rounds.

Hope not, would be nice to have a series that can keep costs down, but I bet even the 2CV series is climbing in cost as it gets more competitive!

Not many !!! 24 Entries received to date so get yours in fast if you want to play.
In answer to the comment about it's a "one of", then there is no denying it but how many Clubs do this anyway, the next round is an additional one ,30 min qualifying, 30 min race back at Mallory on the 26th June, for £95, which again is cheap motorsport ( less than the sprint I am doing 2 weeks earlier for which I get 10mins track time for £100 !!!). Entries available at www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk

I wasn't knocking it but no one can really expect races at that price long term can they? I will admit though that Richard Culverhouse does seem to have the right idea with regards getting people out with the CSCC. Twice now I have failed to get on the grid due to a last minute breakdown and an accident and both times he has given me a 50% credit off my next race with him. No other club will do that.

Ah,

Now you are talking commercial interests not clubs. This is not a criticism but an observation. It seems that the businessmen are realizing that cooperation and a little consideration will fill their grids.

Hmm, maybe a few clubs could look at this?

Maybe the clubs are run by accountants and the CSCC is run by someone with his head screwed on the right way.
The fact that I had a credit from them has certainly swayed me to travel the extra 150 miles to Oulton next weekend.

Maybe the tide is turning and drivers might start being treated as customers..? Whole new thread topic there I'm sure.

It could be your comments have got it right and that the whole ethos behind CSCC and Richard is that the club is run by competitors for competitors and that not everyone has pots of money to go racing, so give the competitor VFM.
The long term goal is to make TINTOPSinto an affordable Championship in 2006 and for that we need to create interest and also expose some competitors to longer races and sharing the drive with another Competitor. Swinging Sixties has now become a very popular format so why not try for slightly newer machinery,so bring out your Fiesta, Pug 205, Escort Mk 3 Mini 1.3i etc etc and come and have a go

This is the subject of a whole different debate but I decided this year to run with Top Hat rather than do a few championship races with my club. Mainly because it means I get good track time at great events. Its run on a profit basis so its in both party's interest to enter.#

I'll do the same again next year I expect. Can't see the point in chasing a championship when I have to undo all the previously legal things I did just to get on the grid.

Far too much to hope for. The value went from club racing years ago. What's the incentive for a club/circuit to halve the entry fee and double the grid? Same income, double the work. Sod the spectators and competitors, they'll pay for any old tat.

(Sorry, bad day, tired and irritable)

;-)
