Welsh Champs history needed?
I'll be there in my trusty old Prokart, which leads me to the real point of this post.
I'm compiling a sort of souvenir brochure/race day programme for the Welsh Championships with information on the history of the Welsh Champs and Karting in Wales overall. If anyone has any stories, results, personal histories, information or photos of the welsh champs any information will be greatfully received. Some history on Cardiff Kart Club would be good. I know they started racing at the old Rover Works on Pengam Moors i believe in 1959 - then moved to Llandow in the sixties before going to pembrey. The new Llandow Kart Club appeared five or six years ago on a track opposite the site of the old one am not sure exactly when welsh champs was first held but am going to have a delve into some of Mr and Mrs Maund's (if u raced karts in wales you'll know who they are) back issues of karting magazines. And I have a photo (sadly not online - yet) of a certain N. Mansell standing atop the podium in either the 1970 or 1972 Welsh Championships gearbox class at Llandow. Darren Manning raced a Junior in the Welsh in 1989 and 1990 too. As said - any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I'd like to enter as I only live in Swansea. If they run a Libre class then I can enter.

Glad to hear it #15 - grid for seniors looks good - chris lipscomb, tom griffiths, matt pritchard, nick turley, your good self and a couple of clubbies so far - small but competitive

If we get a dozen in Senior TKM Four Stroke the club would be delighted - a lot depends on Howard Lucas being persuaded to come and offer his support as I'm sure that would boost numbers. I'm even thinking of borrowing Mikey Hamilton's (s1 #19 at Buckmore and Fulbeck) Jade for a 1 off and double up with prokart.
The class has a sponsor (can't tell you) with prizes, and a DVD will be available |
