Saleen question

Zakspeed are going to run a "2006" spec Saleen S7R in the final rounds of the FIA GT . What does "2006" spec mean ? Is this possibily a Konrad based car or an Acemco based car ?

Will they run in the full championship next year ?

panoz.lmp1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It is a car ordered directly by Saleen. No Konrad car, no Acemco car.

I think with 2006 spec they mean that they will have the new aero which Konrad ran from Oschersleben on the # 5

Would make sense as the Saleen should suit better the FIA GT regs with the Elan engine beacause of more suitable restrictor / weight ratio.

But first wait when this car will appear.....

Konrad and ACEMCO have the same aero upgrades. They apparently came from Saleen themseleves. Finally, after years of not supporting the S7R, Saleen themselves are getting back into it with building an upgraded version for 2006. I believe Konrad will be ordering a 2006 Saleen as well, (it was reported about a half year ago that he was).

Konrad order was or still is on a 2006 Spec car. But it is rumoured that the delievery is much delayed. Also Zakspeed expected to take the delievery of theier much Saleen earlier.

whats wrong with DP's? i love both ALMS and Grand-Am Racing. I would love it if Franz would put Uwe and Jean-Marc behind the wheel of a DP. They would make it really fly (well lets not hope it will fly like the Alzen Porsche just did at the ring).. - A huge crash for Uwe in his Porsche at the ring today. It rolled several times at a high speed. The car may be totalled.

You would think the RS Spyder is in his future plans.

but with the RS Spyder not avaliable to customers until April/May at the very earliest, it looks doubtful for 2006.

Konrad is missing LMES 05 because of no TV time in germany. Its only one point i think, but he said. next year there is no fia gt coverage on eurosport i think and the german tv world is very different to must other countries in europe. so it is possible that there are no tv pictures in FreeTV in germany of FIA GT in 2006 (only a few cable operators have motors tv, no way over satellite).
and if it was a problem for his sponsors in LMES, perhaps its also a probelm for his sponsors in FIA GT

yes, the only other possible option would be running in America - if he finds some american sponsors to support him.

he did have one in florida somewhere, im not sure if he still has it or not. But it was rumored earlier this year that they would run in Grand Am. That never happened (yet), but Franz has said that if he has sponsorship in America, he would come back and race there. IMO, if he found some sponsors, he could enter Grand Am with a DP and also run some ALMS races with his Saleens. It would make perfect sense to me, but then again i guess it all depends where the money is coming from. FIA GT is really going towards manufacture-geared teams (a repeat of what happened in the late 90's). I dont see too much room for a privateer in 2 years from now, unless the rules change. LMES would then be the other sportscar option in europe, but with only 5 rounds (+ le mans), it is not that much.

i dont know, but Saleen S7 is starting to get on par with the Vettes and astons, for being such a old homologated, unhomologated, rehomologated car. Its good to also hear that Mr. Saleen is starting to do R&D on the car again

Other series than GT and sportscars? (meaning that he could run in a non-sportscar series next year?)

And don´t forget the entrys in the Porsche Supercup, where 4 cars are running under the KOnrad Banner. I don´t know if the team is able to run Supercup in this dimensions AND a big programm in the US.

One of the Konrad Supercup 997, the Abbelen car, was entered in recent "Langstreckenpokal" race. Was this also run by Konrad or by Abbelen himself ?

The "Meatball" car was not entered by Konrad in the VLN. It was by Abbelen himself. He owns that particular chassis.
