Schumi's time looks impressive (I guess he was running a 2004 chasis) |

Apologies for the multiple posts
I stand corrected, but Schumi was using the F2005 as reported by f1racing.net |

What does it say about the F2005 when Ferrari are still testing with a modified F2004?

I was certain this was a F2004!
http://images.f1racing.net/large/54563.jpg Its actually (I think) the nose of a F2004 with the back end of a F2005. Notice how the front wing is much lower (and nicer) in this above pic. Here is a F2005 http://images.f1racing.net/large/54453.jpg |

I try not to read too much into testing times because they are never representative of the pace that the team is capable of doing.

Well, I think, come the end of Febuary, it is normally possible to get a rough idea of what is going on.
Over the months of testing a general trend can often be seen We'll see. |

2- The F2005 was built for harder tires (suspension geometry). Running the F2004 would give you better data for this year's tires. And I do believe it's the F2004, probably with some more 2006 parts. |

Note to myself: Louis, anything is possible in f1, you know absolutely nothing about f1 car design, you shall not challenge the experts (bis) |

they may have just using it to test aero bits or some thing else but alonso was running an R25 with a V10(neither of which are any use) where as fisi was in the R26.
it looks like renault may be allready keeping alonso out of the loop |

1. because it was a winner, the 2005 wasn't; 2. because someone at the ferrari warehouse mix up the crates; 3. to make us talk about them (I must say it works); 4. the 2004 was so reliable that they have plenty of chassie left; or 5. FIAT is running out of money such that they use what is left. |

Reading the news, I also note that the RB2 had electrical, wires touching I guess, problems. That's alway a problem with sexy things

And regarding Ferrari...presumably the lap times they are recording are false if they are using a car that doesn't meet the technical rules...or have I misinterpreted this? |

Back to MS, in pre 2004 he was mighty quick as soon as he began testing, so it's not always a round of sand bagging and low fuel sponsor chasing.
He's already said he feels 'quite' confident about this year. Uh oh!! |
