Oliveira testing Williams
Brazilian sources are saying that brazilian "de Oliveira" will be testing for Williams next friday in Valencia.
The test will be an award that Williams and Petrobras are giving him for his F3 title last year in Japan. |

I'm not quite sure what is so funny, please explain.
I've not seen him race, but he id very well in Japan this year an also put in a decent showing in Macau IIRC. Especially for a non-Mercedes driver. |

Wow, these brazilian natives pops up everywhere there are cars racing... Never heard of that one before ! Anyways, "de Oliveira" is a very common surname (close to "da Silva"), and with a little research, found "João Paulo de Oliveira" - another common name - crowned F3 japanese champion in 2005, F3 german champion in 2003 and F3-light south american champion in 1999. Uhn, not bad at all.
He raced for Toyota, and with Williams getting Toyota's engine in 2007, maybe he can get a test drive seat in a short future ? |

Seems like a solid pilot.
I remain in deep confusion about what Nismo has found so amusing. |

I have no idea of his credentials (seems to have some), but is this the time of the year to be using a F1 rookie? If it doesn't slow development of the new car, then fine, give him his prize. But if running an experienced guy could help sort the new car, then they should run this new guy later in the year IMO.

I rate de Oliveira very highly, and it's good he's getting an F1 test.
There's some useful background on his career in this thread: http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73759 |

Although to have to go from Europe down to continue in the less-rated series of Japan after umpteen seasons of F3 is not a good thing. :| His wins in Europe weren't rated very well and generated no earlier interest, shame ?

He was recognised by Sam Michael, who said "It was his first time in a Formula One car and he did everything well."
Considering he only ran 32 laps, he did a pretty reasonable effort I would say. |

Ok, that's only joking. If he has talent enough (which could be the case) then he will be seen and eventually make it to F1.
