Confirms what i posted 2 weeks ago (courtesy MN). Shame Seto couldnt get a fulltime drive but at least he has a genuine chance of winning Bathurst still! Cortney/Seton Bathurst result would be movie script result wouldnt it.

I don't know about that Mac.
He will drive a trye shredding Falcon with a rookie who put the car in the wall on his last effort. On paper, his Lowndes partnership seemed stronger, even though FPR are a joke. But yes it is GREAT chance for him, much better than DJR's misery or the GSR of old. Fingers crossed. Can't wait to see the new livery and uniforms! |

A great combo in both cars. Could this be Glenns best shot at victory in the last few years?

As much as a shame it is that he won't have a full time dirve this year it will be great to see him in a fast car again, it's been a long time coming. Might have to look into one of those ride days if Seto is driving too.

Not having a full time drive for the first time in his racing career would be quite difficult to accept I would think although I guess it is just the way of the world and is the first step to retirement, wonder how he will go without being behind the wheel all year

Great news for Seto joining SBR should & could be a great mix and a possiable podium placegetter.
Is the rumour that Seto is running a BF ute in the ute series a true one. I gather that you are now a happy camper Stevo. |

Rumours persist that Glenn will drive the Capri in Group C which could be a lot of fun.
So after he wins Bathurst in October, he'll then top the list for drivers in '07 and land a good gig. Drive for a few more years with some solid results, then set up GSR, blood in new some guys and the success begins all over again. Anyone else want me to map out their futures for them? Free of charge? |

Yes TSR, certainly happier than Britek drive. I think he made the right call considering the tough circumstances.
I did enjoy the photo of Ross and Glenn with the contract at the table. Very weird seeing Glenn in an Aqua SBR shirt. I didn't think it was neccessary for Glenn to share the press release with Luke Youlden, he deserves his own solo one, but there you go Precious aren't I? |

Seton deserves his own release? Sorry - this was a release about co-drivers NOT main drivers. Much as I like Glenn fact is, he has had 20 years of driving trying to win Bathurst, stiull hasn't managed to and the only way he may have a chance is as a co-driver.
So - did he deserve his own release? No - he got all that his current talents allow for - a release mentioning him and the other 'co-driver' for the endurance series. The unfortunate part of racing is that too many drivers stay on until their use-by dates have been reached (Glenn probably still has a few years to go) to the detriment of younger, faster and often more talented drivers. I'll go get my plate, knife and fork out ready for STEVO to respond. |

This will be the best chance for us to see whether the blame of the last few years has been car related or that Glenn is well past his best.

Why does everybody thing Glenn Seton is past it. Is it because he is 40 years of age and so he must be past it, and it must be better to put somebody who is 20 or so in the car. This is something that Peter Brock really pushed, that age is not a problem as long as the fire is still in the belly.
Dean Canto has been shouted about of how good he is and he should get a full time drive. And I agree 100% he does deserve it. But when he shared the same car with Seton, he wasn't as quick as Seton in the same car on the same day. So if Seton is past it. Does that mean that Canto is not as good as we think he is. When Jim Richards drove the Winfield VP Commodore for Gibson. He was not as quick as Skaife in that car, and everybody was saying he is past it and he should retire. Now they are saying he is a freak, because in a good car he can still perform. The same was said of Radisich only 2 years ago, but there was a lot of praise given to him on his drives last year in the TKR car. The list goes on, Allan Grice in his last serious drive at the Bathurst 24hr was only a couple of tenths slower than David Brabham in the same car. Grice had just turned 60. If the fire is still there, you can still cut it. The ability is there, but does the fire burn. The answer will be revealed come September |

canto was just as quick as seton at bathurst last year, quicker in some places as well.
im so tired of hearing about glen seton, i think he is past it but i also think its great that he got a top quality enduro drive. that way, after the enduros we will all know if glen is past it or if he has still got a lot of speed. he could blitz the enduros (i hope not ) and win both or he could just lag around in the back of the field and make courtney do all the work!!! lets wait and see |

Canto was quicker?
Err...quicker in damaging the Falcon that was running strongly perhaps....but no he wasn't quicker than Glenn Seton. They even mentioned it on TEN's interview. Both drivers stood by the car and Canto commented that his times are close to Glenn's. But Glenn was quicker. Glenn was the only DJR driver to park his car in the shootout. For the record, Steven Johnson did manage a low 2.07 in the race as he was about to be lapped, which was the quickest of the two DJR cars, but no, Dean Canto was not quicker than Glenn Seton. Not a Canto-bash. I think Dean is GREAT. Just a fact. |

No it isn't simply because he is 40 - but he has had 20 years inwhich to prove he can win Bathurst. OK his one real chance got fouled by mechanical problems - but there is also a BIG difference between Seton and Jim Richards.
Jim can drive. Put him in ANY car and he will get the best out of it and that usually means 1st or, at worst second. He has come from the rear of a NASCAR field with no practice, no qualifying, he wins in ST's, Porsches - everything he gets into. Glenn simply does not have this ability or, if he did, he no longer has that will to win. |

You dont need to be the fastest in the enduros, its not what its about. Its about staying near the front of the feild and keep your car intact.
Whats this got to do with Jum Richards? |

Great news for Glenn, and for SBR.
My only concern is that Glenn will have had 10 months away from hard racing come Sandown. However you cut it, talking the punters for a spin in the 3 seater, or running the odd Group C race, is not the same as racing week in week out. I think co drivers these days need to be spending time in a seat of some description ( even Jim Richards runs all year in the Porsche). It's a bit tough to come back and try to keep on the pace...ask Larry Parkins and Tony Longhurst. I hope he gets a run somewhere...Carrera Cup, Utes, whatever...to keep sharp. |
