Reverse Grid
I think it's an amateur approach...do you think this would happen in F1 or Moto GP?

In a multi race environment it can conceivably work but not in an event where it is only a single race (eg F1).
As for MotoGP even contemplating it - why would they want to? Their current racing model produces very good racing with plenty of overtaking that isn't 'manufactured' |

Oh for gods sake, get over it. You lot aren't paying any money towards the running of this series. Sit back and enjoy the spectacle. The points score will take care of any issues.

If nothing else, it means we will get to see some of the other drivers on the telecast (even if it is only when being overtaken by the usual camera magnets).

Rewarding poor performance with pole position (and penalising success), what motorsport is all about

I always thought that if you race you race to win, not to be rewarded with a win then start from the rear of the grid.

I just wonder if the IPO is going to be as tough on things when he knows that the guys ahead are slower and whoops.

Just remembered Nascar have a special race weekend with a prize of a million $ and they do reverse grids there.
It's not a points scoring race thought. Can't remember what it's called - * Bud Shootout* I think. |

Personally I would rather see all alcohol advertising banned - especially in motor sport - but of coure, the sports rulers being the safety conscious people they are allow sponsors such as VB and the garbage they put on at various race meetings in the name of 'entertainment'. |

look at the jack daniels sponsorship though, it is branded very clearly with "drink responsibly - pace yourself" or something like that

Re Jack Daniels - yes it is - and about the only one that does it so, yes, brownie points to them.
However it still doesn't alter the fact that alcohol sponsorship of motor racing is, IMHO, worse than general cigarette advertising. |

Well, I hope all the knockers of the reverese grid concept will shut up now, it obviously works, the cream rose to the top afte the first 2 races and the 3 race grid looked like it should.
As for the crashes in race 2 - BIG DEAL, at EVERY race the front runners have to overtake the back markers (and others) who have pitted at different times, in the endurance races (Sandown & Bathurst) the front runners have to overtake the rear markers all the bloody time. This stuff is what racing is all about. I love the reverse grid and can't wait for the next one. |

It says in today's paper in Brisbane that when the vote was taken at the TEGA meeting for the reverse grids it was - Skaife ... Rogers ... Larkham ... all for ... and against was Chalker (DJR).....no link.
