Harvick: kill all Iraqis

What a sick man, and I used to be a fan of him until he said this...

Quote:
Question: 3. If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

Harvick: Oh, the president. The first thing I would do is drop a bomb and clean the place out, over in Iraq.

Instead of making everybody suffer through everything we go through, I'd just wipe it out and be done with it
I added the bold btw.

I don't think it's a big deal. People say stuff like that in jest all the time.

I envy someone like that. He obviously has a very simple outlook on life and does not let small things like "reality" get in the way

The sad thing is its on the official NASCAR website. Typical arrogance from them.
Then again what do you expect from NASCAR...The guy is an idiot on the track and a total moron from what he is saying.

This makes it sound like he thinks it isn't the US fault that they're in Iraq. The US are suffering cos Bush sent them there, so wipe out Washington instead!

Stupid comment from a *******. However, he speaks for himself, not the others involved in nascar or the fans. You can find *******'s in any sport in any Country. Nuff said, at least IMO.

He's quite clearly an ignorant ******* and he simply wanted to highlight that fact. The NASCAR website proudly helped him!

Maybe we'll see him as a war advisor to Bush next week. You never know.

The fact this didn't become a major story is disturbing, though. If a basketball or football player said this would it have been ignored by the media? It seems as if such comments are expected from a NASCAR driver by the general population. On the flip side, there was no peep from NASCAR Nation about it either...

Be careful with this, political discussions can get out of hand. I edited the messages that the autocensor didn't catch, don't want to let anything get out of control.

In my opinion however I should note that no one should take celebrities (race drivers or otherwise) opinions seriously as usually there is some egocentric and probably stupid reasoning behind them. Harvick isn't a politician and hopefully has no ties to politicians. His opinion is not the opinion of most Americans either.

My thoughts are, free speech and all, but this guy is paid to race cars, like actors and politicians are paid to say other peoples' words, so you should never ask a deep and meaningfull question Maybe that is a little harsh, but anyone remember Bedazzled?

I just went out there, gave a hundread and ten percent. I did good, the team did good we just gave it our all...

Presumably, if Kevin has a botched pitstop in his next race, he will suggest killing his pitcrew and their families and friends?

I very much doubt that. From what I have seen in the media (yes, I know, don't believe everything you read blah blah) and my own perceptions of the US, I would think that he's appealing to a significant amount of those fans. Clever marketing move in my opinion even if his comments were crass and pathetic.

What comment? That in my opinion a large amount of his fans may feel the same way? Do you disagree?

Maybe Mr Harvick should be extra careful around airports in future! Do Americans ever wonder why half the world hates them ?

nb- for non-irony-understanding USA PERSONS MY FIRST SENTENCE IS A JOKE

I'm ending this now. This thread is closed as I feel it is getting out of hand and there is nothing to be gained from going round and round. Political discussion, even those related to racing, are for another place and time. As everyone is of a different thinking on political topics it has a major tendency to get out of hand.

It would be best if all spent our time on other racing topics. After all thats the most important thing right? Any questions please contact me by PM.

J.D.
