Well, I'm not sure how key this is to Ferrari any more. Though they obviously want him!
In terms of overall responsibility it is still Aldo Costa who is the main man and Tombazissisziszi. But still nice to have the man with the knowledge on board to help out! |

As knowles said though, Aldo Costa has taken over the design side with Rory having more of an advisory role so in relative terms not a great coup for Ferrari but its nice to have him im sure....
The key to Ferrari's success next year hinges on Brawn and Todt's decisions IMO |

It must have some importance... or they would let him go.

Keeps any of the rivals nabbing him as well. I'm sure a Toyota would love him.

It is a good and important news.
Although currently, in terms of structure, Aldo Costa is the named designer and Rory Bryne is the consultant role, Rory Bryne played a huge part in Ferrari's competitiveness this year. In 2005, Rory Bryne took a big step back from 2004 and allowed Aldo Costa a bigger role in the overall design. The car was competent, but it drew too much from it's predecessor (despite rule changes) and had inherent weakness. Rory was sort of pushed back into a heavier role in the late half of 2005 in a bid to cure the problems, as well as to be more involved in 2006's machinery. Ferrari's decision to keep Bryne suggest that they are still not quite confident in letting Aldo Costa take complete charge (although he's probably a good designer in his own rights). |

Byrne staying on might increase the chances of Todt and Brawn continuing, especially if his significance is as high as Gt_R suggests.
