Budget for UK season?

Hi folks,

I find it quite hard to re-search online for budgets needed to race in a decent front running team for a full season like Eurocup FR2.0 championship?

How about British F3 series and also Formula 3 Euroseries???

How much does it cost to run in World Series by Renault?

DO any of these series have prize money for winning drivers or even test drives for winning series?

Do all racers who race in any of the above pay FULL money, how does it work with these interenational series? Do any one get drives due to their talents???

Update me
on any useful information thanks.

Which Series places more importance for F1 bound???

I see everywhere people having their own pros and cons about British F3 and F3 Euroseries!!!

Apart from budget, if you had the option, which of the F3 series would you chosse and why so???

Where does World Series by Renault (WRS 3.5) and GP2 fit in for a F1 bound driver???

I mean R. Kubica went from WRS 3.5 to F1, while L. Hamilton had to do GP2 after F3 Euroseries whilst S. Vettel went straight from F3 Euroseries to Formula 1 saving himself some $1 million if he did WRS 3.5 or $2 million if he did GP2?

What do you folks think about this?

So which series would you pick (if you had option and the budgets to do so), after doing Formula BMW series or Formula Renault as a starting ground???

Thanks again

I think F3 is very good training for young drivers.

But since Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen didn't bother with it I don't really know...

For a serious upcomer, there's little doubt that F3 is still the primary category for really putting a marker down once the driver's completed his/her apprenticeships in the likes of Formula Ford (or BMW) and then I guess F Renault 2.0 .

Admittedly it's popularity has waned a little bit but then F3 has always had off years where numbers have been down. In fact I used to think that the British series had a classic season every other year.

The FR 3.5 (formerly Nissan) has clearly presented an another cost effective option for people looking to either bypass F3 or those who have got budget but cannot find their way into GP2 for example.

However it is a tight series with a lot of entries and perhaps difficult to really stamp authority on the rest of the field.

But if the money is there and momentum is maintained, I would still summarise the following as the most likely route:

1/ Karting
2/ Formula Ford (I don't care what anyone esle says - it's still the best training car imo)
3/ Formula Renault

Now it get's bit more difficult!

4/ F3 or WSR 3.5 (on balance I still would say that having a F3 title in your portfolio is still very good indeed)
5/ GP2
6/ F1

Ok, Brit F3 with a top team will be around £500,000. Not including Macau. Expect to pay an extra £75,000 or so for that.

WSR budget is not to different, I beleive that is around £600,000.

GP2 is floating around The £1m a season mark.

Sev has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
In terms of Budgets, I remember reading on Bruno Senna's website that he needed around 300k to run in Carlin in Formula BMW and around 700K to run in British F3. Those are probably on the high end, as Carlin is a very good time; I would expect bare minimum would be between 1/2 to 1/3 of those costs.

Sponsorship is very minimal in the lower series, probably even in F3. At GP2 level, racing becomes so expensive that really sponsor's would need to pay most of it.
