Rockingham Stages

While a few of you headed to Mallory for the BMMC AGM & a lot of you went to the London Motosport Show, Elaine & I along with Chris Ansell & about 100 other hardy souls (silly b....rs) headed to Rockingham for the 3rd running of the Rockingham stages, a rally run by the Middlesex Automobile Club.

We were on the 1st corner, which was the left hander going down the hill into the tunnel, the cars then made their way around the circuit in various directions before exiting via the Spectator tunnel.

theewere 4 stages on saturday 7 6 on Sunday, with the last 2 on each day run in darkness, which I thought was great.

There was a big mix of cars from the WRC were 2 Hyundai Accents & a Skoda Octavia (my favourite on the day), to a Metro 6R4, loads of Escorts & quite a few Evo somethings, down to 2 Maesto's a Metro & probably the slowest on the day a Ford Ka.

All done & dusted by 4-30pm & everyone went home with a big smile.

My first taste of rally marshalling, with several other Rockingham regulars also being initiated. Forget the WRC cars, in my book you can't beat the Escorts for excitement.

Special mention has to go to the #23 Peugeot 205 who lost 10 minutes to a fuel pump problem on the first stage of the day on Sunday then spent the remaining stages catching up in spectacular fashion. The co-driver even had time to gurn for the photographers at one point.
