Flying Flea!

No dount some posters on here will know who I am referring to here.

I will always be amazed how Darren Bartons career never really took off as it should have done. Was readin some old RPM's from mid nineties the other day and this kid was a huge talent, far bigger than anything we have at the moment. he was winning races in the UK for fun on a Yamaha when most were using Honda's.
He gets a wild card ride at the GP on a semi factory Yamaha, using his own chassis he gets a top ten, the teams best result by far, then backs it up with top tens for the rest of the year on the same bike.
Signs for an Aprilia team the next year, and totally disappears, the kid was really special. Think he was Tokudomes team mate on the Ditter bikes..

I know he rode a 250 Honda in the UK, but he was never the same man.

I saw him on a 125 and he was a total genius, anyone know what became of the lad, he can only be in his late twenties now!!!

Yes he finished in the top ten in a few races on the AGV Attac bikes in I think 95 or 96. he did the last few races on a BArtol tuned bike after Kurfiss was dumped for being useless.

He got the ride after a wild card at the Brit GP, he finished 9th!! beating a few championship front men.

Then stupidly signed for Ditter the next year and got a Leon Haslam deal where he was on a standard bike, think he scored a few points maybe.

Seems a shame coz he was a huge talent over ehre and won arces for fun in 125 and later on the 250 class against good opposition
