SA Parliament to ban alcohol sponsorship??

Link Here

So assuming this hairbrained idea actually gets up, will this mean the end to teams participating in SA, and of course the teams retaining their sponsorship??

If the Clipsal is as important for Adelaides economy as everyone would have us believe then I think the clause removing it from any bans will be in there.

Not only have the overpaid, useless S.A. polies lost the F1GP for Adelaide, if they keep ****ing of the governing bodies of the sports S.A. does attract they too will look to hold thier events elsewhere. I doubt that any of then actually view this site but if so read this. Concentrate more on matters that effect employment, housing, the economy etc and but out of issues and events that you know nothing about!!!!!!!

Gee - who would have thought that a local politician would use one of SA's few large events to bandstand and get their name in the paper....

I don't see what's the difference between motorsport & any other sport or advertising plenty of people who watch football, horse racing, bowls, tennis etc drive cars & drink alcohol the same could be said for people who read newspapers, magazines or watch television. It's just utter garbage from a stupid person who wants known even if it is for being an idiot.

I am absolutely disgusted with it.
It is hard enough getting sponsorship for major or even minor events for that matter, i wonder where it will end.
Ok lets ban Bigpond, because sitting in front of your computer watching V8's is bad for your eyesight.
Let's ban Bob Jan because he stands for motor racing and fast cars, oh yes that will kill you also, even if you don't drink and drive.
Oh and Clipsal, lets not let them sponsor any more because the use of products increases the Greenhouse emissions.
Then lets get rid of the on and off track entertainment as the burnouts and donuts are bad for the environment and don't forget the Air Force in their jets, that's got to be even worse as they are closer to the ozone layer. I could go one for 10 pages but I think we all get the idea.
You will not stop people drinking whatever they want by banning Alcohol sponsorship at any events, the only way to reduce or stop people actually drinking at these events is to stop serving it, like banning smoking at some race meetings. Absolutely ridiculous, what is this world coming to!!!!!

Don't get so worked up ladies and gentlemen.
She's just a Krancky old women who nobody normally listens to so she has to make bigger noises than everyone else.
On this occasion the noise came from behind and was accompanied by an offensive odour - and if it had any substance - it would have been brown!

And so it begins. This is how the Greens and their pet Daschunds will shut down motorsport, by slowly strangling any revenue stream it can influence.

That is an interesting comment considering on another thread we are applauding (sort of) V8SC for "going green" and at least attempting to be carbon-neutral. I don't know that the Greens actually have anything to do with this proposal re-Alcohol bans - Ms Kanck is after all a Democrat, not a Green.

"South Australian Democrat MP Sandra Kanck says that having spirit and wine companies associated with motor racing promote the combination of alcohol and fast driving."

I love how they come up with this stuff.

Next they will ban the 'WOW' WPS car, because it promotes driving fast with the stereo up loud....
