Are there any 2cv racers on here?
hi guys, iam a marshal at oulton and last year a few of us started batting around the idea of running a 2cv in selected races to try and promote marshalling in the uk and also run the car on behalf of a charity. we have at least two drivers willing to put money up to help fund this project and we have some guys who are willing to help mechanically with the car. the two drivers we have so far both work day to day for barclays bank and barclays will at least pound for pound any money we raise for charity. the idea is hopefully to get a full team up and running made of marshalls giving there spare time away from work and marshaling in order to promote this great pastime within the motorsport industry.
the problem i have despite emails to several names on the 2cv racing site we have no response. we are basically starting from scratch and was looking at 2cv's as we know it is a cheap way to race and all the guys and girls involved are friendly and hopefully willing to help. we are looking for information, advice and a point in the right direction to try and get this project off the ground this year. any help will be appreciated so please drop me a line or even fazza (user name on here) thanks guys |

You rang?
First of all - well done! Doing the 2CV 24hrs for charity is a great idea. Every year there's at least one charity team and it seems to work well for them. I'm sorry to hear about your lack of response from the official site, I'm sure there's a good reason somewhere - they don't generally ignore people! Firstly, do you intend to: 1) buy/hire a car to race and sort out your own team, drivers, mechanics 2) hire a car + team and just be the drivers 3) buy drives with existing team(s) (Arranged in order of difficulty!) There's at least one option for #1 - I know of a car for sale that includes race entry, testing, insurance, fuel and hire for £3,500. It's the car that's won the championship 4 times too. Contact Steve Panas for more info on that. If you're intending to go for something like #2 or #3, then there are a few drives available that I know of, and there's a 'driver matchmaking' service run by Catherine Noble. Some good teams are looking for drivers, and there are a few teams that will sort out a car and run it for you. Last year for example, the Tete Rouge team ran 3 cars, and all 3 ran well and finished, with TR1 winning the event, for the 2nd year in a row. Have a look at this page: http://www.2cvracing.org.uk/teams/07-team-list.html for the team/driver matchmaking service, and if you don't get a suitable response from Catherine, either ring Steve Panas, or contact me through a PM and I'll go fishing for you! |

Don't take too long in deciding though - time's really ticking on, and places getting filled quite fast.
