Mallorys Test Morning - Wednesday 4th

Phew breathtaking, with over 50 cars entered it always looked like it was going to be busy & I wasn't disappointed. Wayne in Race Control and Doug & JP on the breakdowns worked their socks off!
The cars we seperated into Sports/Saloons & Single Seaters (+ Caterham's, Westfields and a very slow Hillclimb Radical), with each section getting 3 sessions each.
The Sports/Saloons went out at 9 o'clock and by the end of their session we'd had 3 Reds! A visitor to the gravel @ Gerrards, followed by a red Fiat Uno letting go beween the Esses & The Hairpn resulting in a Torrey Canyon type oil slick, and finally a new shape Mini Cooper ending up in the gravel at the elbow.
The single seaters didn't do much better in their 1st session with 2 reds due to cars in the gravel, the Sports/Saloons then went out again and a Westfield caught fire in the pit lane - which was very quickly put out by Janet!
Not to be out done, when the single seaters went out again, one of Gavin Wills F.Fords managed to knock off 2 corners entering the Hairpin, the resulting rescue by the Wrecker brougt the highlight of the morning, when it refused to start (overwork) and Doug had to tow start it.

Nicest car out for me was the Brook Bond Oxo liveried Surtees TS9 F1 car, the most entertaining whee 2 of 3 Pick ups, who lapped consistantly fast & very close together.

Cars out were: Sports & Saloons: 4 Mini Coopers, 3 BMW's, 7 Mighty Mini's, a Healy Sprite, an MGZR, a new shape Clio, a Renault 5 Turbo, a Saxo, 3 MG Midgets, a Vauxhall Firenza, 3 Pick ups, 2 Fiat Uno's, a Porsche 944 & a rally spec 911, a Hillman Imp , a MGF, a Sierra Cosworth & a Peogot 205GTI.

The Single Seaters were: a couple of F.Ford 200's a March F3, a very slow F.Renault, a Jedi, a very slow Hill Climb spec Radical, assorted Caterham & Westfields, Bob Higgins & Paul Taylor in F.Vees, Rob Hall's F1 Surtees & assorted FF 1600's headed by Peter Daly & Laura.

All in all great morning, here's to Easter Monday & next wednesday General test, when I can do it all again.
