The G2 car

It had a cracking race at Bucharest. However I was looking around for a bt more info on this car (and it gives us an excuse to discuss an oddball GT car).

The official site isn't full of facts: http://www.gilletvertigo.com/frb/car.htm
(don't we have a user related to this machine?).
And it is just some decent 'multimedia' on the racing team's site: http://www.renaudkuppens.be/2006/pages.htm

Anyway, the car has a Alfa engine 3l V6. Can anyone give me an idea how much this has been modified and what power it is producing? How close is it to the road car engine?

N.I.C.E. ! That Gillet certainly looks good on her!

I've allways been a fan of these cars. The team is persistend, they're around for over ten years now,if I'm not mistaking. I saw one first in pre-qual LM somewhere in '96 or '97.shame it didn't make it to the race.
There has been nothing like it anywhere else,I mean is it odd or beautifull? That Alfa V6 surely sounds nice...

It's GT3 legal?

It's a great looking car but I doubt that enough were made for GT3.

I vote odd, and quirky, but really cool too, and I love it uses an Alfa engine.

The young lady is very attractive!

It´s not GT3 legal at the moment. They want to homologate the car as a "national GT3" for Belcar. It was planned to build a real GT3 chassis during last winter, but they would have the same problems like Mosler.

It is based on the 3 litre 24V V6 engine which runs in Alfa 164 and early "new" Spider models. But the capacity has increased up to 4 litre last season. Horsepower? Maybe 420-450???? I´ll try to find out. And it is no longer a street engine, they modified it heavily.

I know a tuning company took an Alfa Romeo Brera and bored it out to 3.7 and it was like 407 bhp, although they started with the 3.2 litres.
so it should be more than capable.

Ignore that last post, I found out the 3.2 and the 3.0 are diffrent engines.
The 3.2 is a GM derived block (GM high feature engine) running Alfa heads.
As the 3.0 is 100% pure Alfa.

now its g2, but looks/sounds no different
