What Are The Odds?
of Kurt driving at Pocono. I see a big point deduction and a probable suspension, stupid move on pit road and also not so brilliant on the track. He put both himself and tony into the wall and then on pit road endangered a crew member's life with his absolutely stupid move. they should suspend him for multiple races, at least. Then he has the gall to blame Tony.

Kurt Busch has done stupid stuff in the past and will continue to do it in the future. He's continually unrepentant about it too which is the part that irritates me. I'd say there is a good chance they'll park him next week. I also imagine we can see a record breaking fine and probation too as that seems to be the trend in NASCAR.

If NASCAR doesn't give him a suspension for what he did he will probably be back becaue he is 11th in the points standings and he is just a few points from not being in the chase for the cup.

First of all, from what it looked like from Greg Biffle's on-board camera, Kurt drifted high at the exit of turn four. He got into Tony, not the other way around. Regardless of who was to blame, though, there is no excuse to intentionally run into another car on an active pit lane. NASCAR needs to crack down hard on this sort of behavior. 10-race suspension, $100,000 fine would be my punishment.
If Kurt is looking at a multi-race suspension, Penske's going to need a driver. Interestingly enough, the IRL and NASCAR race on concurrent days only twice over the next ten weekends. Would Sam Hornish be interested in a drive? If not, Ricky Craven and Steve Park had better be near their phones. Last edited by Fish_Flake; 5 Jun 2007 at 08:30. |

Yeah you bet.
Lets hope it's Hornish. Maybe something good can come from this. I hope Nascar kicks Kurt outta the park. Who's the never was now eh? |

All I can say is that Tony's done a lot of stupid crap before as far as using his car as a weapon: Putting Matt Kenseth in to the grass at Daytona at about 200mph, Wrecking Clint Boywer and taking Carl Edwards with him, Dumping Jeff Gordon on pit road at Bristol...
But even when Stewart dumped Jeff, there wasn't anyone really around that could've gotten hurt. Kurt should've thought before he acted in the manner that he did. And I'll be perfectly honest: I could give a crap less about either one because of the dumb moves they've pulled in the past. But what do I know-I'm from the sportscar forum! And if what I posted offends Kurt Busch or Tony Stewart fans, then I guess that I'm not a people person. Good thing I have kevlar(figure of speach). And as for Rusty coming back, he's made it well known that Penske won't get him back in that car unless he figuratively holds a gun to Rusty's head. Well all know that Roger wouldn't literally pull something like that(or what Kurt did!), so go figrue. Last edited by chernaudi; 5 Jun 2007 at 08:35. |

All of those things that you listed about Tony Stewart were not blatantly reckless. Overaggressive, yes, but not with such malice. That Gordon incident at Bristol happened at about 7 MPH on a closed pit lane. The other two are just examples of him using short track tactics at somewhat higher speeds. The intent to harm, or at least the possibility of it, didn't exist.
For the record, my original post included Rusty Wallace in addition to the other drivers I mentioned who would be receiving phone calls. I decided the likelyhood of him actually coming out of retirement to sub for Busch if needed was very low, and went back to omit his name. Also, on the Hornish issue, the one scheduling conflict between NASCAR and the IRL during the next several race weekends occurs at Sears Point in three weeks. Coincidentally, that race is a week after a certain sports car race in which Roger Penske's Porsches don't take part, at a point where his drivers will not have raced for over a month. |

He should be out until next season. That kind of move is just not on.
Penske should haul him over the coals as well. |

Hornish, meh. Unsure on that idea, for Cup at least.
Then again, it'd be good experience! |

Maybe Penske should bench Busch like Roush did so NASCAR won't have to.
And I did list the stuff Tony did, but I also made a point that Tony didn't directly endanger anyone. Even when Edwards retaliated, Stewart's car was no where near any crew members. And when Tony dumped Jeff, at least Tony tried not to endanger anyone, by 1, going slower, and two, making sure that he and Gordon were no where anyone. Granted, when Stewart did it, it was dumb, but no where near as dangerous as what Krut did. |
