DTM - Norisring (GER) - Round 5, 24th June 07

Thought I'd open a thread for Round 5 at the Norisring this weekend. Maybe that'd get Hazard started on his intro, maybe.

For what they're worth, first test results from this morning put Spengler on top followed by none other than Paul di Resta, then Bernd Schneider and Mika Häkkinen. Mercedes top four times; first of the Audis is Alexandre Premat 5th. The Norisring's close enough to being Audi's home race is it not? Again, testing only and the first one at that. Test 2 shortly and free practise and qualifying tomorrow.

Gotta wait a week, but what I wouldn't give for some dang video coverage of these guys on a street circuit.

Hey I didn't know Susie Stoddart spoke German.

She just keeps getting cuter and cuter.

I wonder how many cars makes it through the end. The German Porsche Supercup earlier today was a real carnage.

Damn, I hope DTM would get rid of the mandatory pit stops, it affects the results too much, Häkkinen would have been 1st or 2nd easily, now he was only 9th.

Not to say I have nothing against Spengler winning. I cheer for him, too.

Schneider or Ekström on the highest podium would have been different story, though.

I don't understand DTM at all: Spengler clearly drives through a red light when leaving the pits and this is no problem whatsoever He can claim as much as he wants ("the light must have jumped to red, when I was parallel with it"), but red is red

As was said, it turned red way too late for him to do anything about it. If he'd hit the brake, he'd have stopped passed the light and could never have been told when to go again.

The mistake may have been they didn't turn it on it time, still not Spengler's problem.

What they need is an amber!

But then did not people get penalised in EuroSpeedway for missing it by a tenth of a second or something like that?

I think Eurospeedway is fair evidence of how NOT to run a race

The team can radio him when the light gets back to green. Still this does not change the fact that he drove through the red light. Therefore his pit stop should not have counted (like the one from Luhr during closed pits).
