Townsville. Still No News?
What is happening with Townsville. I have been contacting people i know in Townsville to see what is happening up there and nobody seems to know. Has the Federal Government come to the party with the rest of the money or is the race dead?

T/Ville might just have to join a select group of regional area's that do not fall under the scope of the TV Gods.
Putting it simple, they who control the rights to televise will not go regions where they don't belive the numbers will stackup. Note* Pres of Hawthorn Football Club, when qestioned on why don't they move to Hobart etc. Ans, You need at least $35 M to run a footy club, not enough dough to cover that done here. Hence , to build a track up there, would it cover costs? The Govt would want its ROI (return of Ivestment) Aussie Bernie would want his slcie etc . I know there is a great fan base up in Nth Q but, I don't think the South Qld Govt will help, and I dont think Anna is into the smell of methonal and burning rubber Nothing much has changed since the 80's |

A friend of mine is a head honcho for a government department and he has not heard anything at all. Considering his position and the department, it would surprise me that he would not be involved in some way if it was to go ahead. I guess things could still happen but i wouldn't think it would happen in 2008, if at all.

How about a road race on Magnetic Island - that would sort the men from the boys lapping there
