VSCRC Round 3 July 14-15
I'm looking forward to going out there, categories include
Sports Cars Improved Production Historic Touring Cars Formula Ford Formula Vee MG's HQ's 944 Challenge Saloon Cars E30 BMW Challenge I'm looking forward to seeing Improved Production put their usual great show on and see if Brett Bedggood can fight back in Sports Cars, Historic Tourers normally put a great show as well so it will be interesting if Mustangs can overcome the Torana's. Should be pretty good |

Watch out for a ball burster Sportscar race. Will bring back memories of some of the great fields of a few years ago. Kaias Aston Martin is due to appear with a number of other new cars to take on previous round winners in Twigg and Rose as well as reigning champion Brett Bedggood's Porsche . Cini makes re-appearance back to his roots with cup car.

Watch out for the Hot Dogs too.
Anyone know if Bana fixed his car? It was last seen (and hard to miss) leaving turn 1 at speed with its bottom on fire at Phillip Island. Bana said he braked for turn one and there was nothing there....... Quite true, most of his engine, gearbox, oil etc was left on the straight. |

The experiment of having the cars transfer via first turn & the car park seems to have worked pretty good

Murray's Corvette was looking a bit worse for wear on Sunday, with a piece of splitter and some paint missing. The weather on Sunday was good after a wet start to the day and there was not much in the way of significant contact (that I saw anyway). Unfortunately the Kaias Aston was missing along with a few other cars. I think almost every race had some pretty close racing although there were some where the frontrunners were well clear, the most dramatic being the MGs with the #40 car leading by about 1/3 lap and 3/4 lap in front of the main bunch. The last Improved Production race was dramatic with the RX3 coupe getting away slowly before storming past the lead Toranas for a big lead only to have trouble half a lap from home.

Matt, I think the incident was near Dandy Rd, not 4.
The Aston was nice to look at. I'm not sure why he put it away on Sat night. Perhaps something broke. What's going on with the improved production guys?.....did we see a Sigma out there?....O the humanity.....quick but. |

The short sprint format really doesn't suit the Michelin tyres which take several laps to warm up (ask Ted He had his whoopsie on Michelin)... which in a 6, 8 or 10 lap race is practically half way! Lack of ABS also makes it a very unforgiving car in cold conditions... and there's a GT meeting not far away... smart move to pack it up I think... considering the win/lose balance. Any that came on Sunday and missed the Aston... tuff luck... Serves you right!! Friday is always the best day to see the cars and teams... and Saturday for Qual times. |

Cold tyres would explain the drivers desire to get some heat into them with burnouts or practise starts in all the wrong places. Is there a softer tyre he could run? It seems silly to have such an expensive car hamstrung with the wrong rubber.
Ted is getting quick too….the last meeting on Phillip Island he was approaching Honda like a Dane. A little bit late a couple of times but geeze he was having a go… |

Every corner is a sheep station for Ted... and one by one, they're all learning that
The Michelin is not the wrong tyre, they're bloody good tyres, ideal even in some situations... but there are options if you chose to pursue them.... Size availability needs to be considered too of course. |

ABS causes more problems than it solves on race cars, just look at the previous Carrera Cup cars. |

You try standing on the grid with all those drivers lighting up the rear tyres and stepping out of line and nearly running you over, I've nearly been hit a couple of times over the years. Marshal safety MUST always take precedence over all other things. |
