Ambrose to Nascar in 06! (confirmed)

In an interview on ch10 today, Marcos hinted strongly that he is looking at NASCAR for next year.
When Leigh Diffey (i think) said are you ready for Nascar next year, he didnt deny it. He said that he was talking to ford and looking overseas for new opportunities

maybe the agreement is only binding in OZ, or maybe he will have to race FORDS overseas.

He is allowed to leave to pursue overseas drives for one year as long as it doesn't conflict with the Ford contract (ie: drive for GM)

I would say a NASCAR drive with a big team would net Mr Ambrose far more money than what his current V8 drive.

Not to say that he is only in it for the money.

Not sure about the *drive for Ford bit* but he did have a clause put in about having a year off.

If he does go to Nascar who will be the candidates to replace him in the Pirtek car?
Please don't say Lowndes!

Expect him to say he will leave V8 Supercars at the end of 2005 and go to Nascar.

Oh is that why he's going to make an announcement tomorrow?
I thought he and Skaife were going to drop a bombshell and announce their love for each other!

Ambrose and Viagra... that should surely stick it up a few of his doubters!

I think he will got to Nascar, and the Pirtek Car... If James Courtney has a good run with HRT in the enduros, and decides to come back to Australia from Japan (he is newly married i think), then maybe James Courtney will take Marcos's seat ??

i heard from guys workn at sbr that Frosty's still very high on their books, they want him back asap. contracts these days aren't worth the paper theyre signed on so anything's a possibility. waz certainly has his foot in the right door but it all comes down to his performance in the v8ds and the enduros hey. just gotta wait it out until the announcement i guess ...

I think if he goes to America he'd have to start in the Busch series.

Didn't Stone Bros have a tie-in with Rousch or Wood Bros? Both Ford teams.

Good luck to him. NASCAR is a big deal.

How about a straight swap, Marcus Ambrose for Mark Martin

Martin did say he wanted to try other disciplines of racing after he finished this year.

Good on Ambrose if that is what is going to be announced.

Ford need to not be stupid...

If they lose ambrose they need another proper winner (ingall or bright are close but will not win the series) with the team that knows how to win... Unless they make a good case for M Schu or Hakkinen's retirement plans... the only options are Lowndes or Courtney (fat toyota contract would be hard to better) so surely lowndes must be in the pirtek car... stuff 888 they aren't important.
