I don't know if they are available over there, but here in the states a company called chiltons makes very comprehensive manuals for servicing all manner of vehicles, and I would suggest that it might be in your interests to start with that. It will have step by step instructions on what is involved with the R & R. Here is the link to their website. Robert

Only on my 68 camaro (8 bolts, 20 minutes) so I have no idea what is involved with a newer car. Robert

I've only done it to our Mk2 Granada when it was thumped by an Alfa back in January. Four bolts and a couple of clips and some odd looks from the neighbours as I set about smacking it with a lump of wood until it was almost straight! I must get a new one sometime, the tank tape holding the plastic ends on is starting to come off...

On something like a Mondeo I would think it's something that needs two people. Do the bolts up hand tight, wiggle the ting about until it's straight and the tighten them down with your assistant holding it in place. There's probably loads of plastic clips to break as well

Of course I forgot the really obvious answer- 'Refitting Is The Reverse Of Removal'

Is the bumper, or part of it, body-coloured? If so, it will need spraying to match your car, which was probably included in the quote you got.

Ive had separate quotes for new and used bumpers, spraying and fitting. My current bumper has a crack at the top which isn't too bad though so its not worth me getting a new bumper fitted and sprayed which would be over £400.
Fitting costs almost as much as a used bumper. If i could find a used bumper with matching colour and fit myself (or cheaply) then Id go ahead with it. |
