I looked on the Rockingham site and they confirmed that intention, elf and safety rules maybe?

One of the RAF motor club members told me the same late last night. He also said there had been a lot of withdrawals, not because of conditions at Rockingham but the weather where they live.

Rockingham Stages Rally to be Held Behind Closed Doors

Rockingham Director Charlotte Orton, said: "Unfortunately due to the adverse weather conditions, together with the organisers of the Rockingham Stages Rally, we have taken the decision to run this year's event behind closed doors.

"Our Operations team have been working tirelessly over the past few days to clear the snow and ice but the continuing sub-zero temperatures mean they are unable to make the site safe for spectators.

"The weather forecast for the rest of the week shows no sign of improvement and therefore for the first time in seven years we have regrettably been forced to close the site to members of the public.

"We would urge anyone who doesn't have an official pass, not to travel to the venue as they will not be allowed access to the circuit and therefore turned away at the entrance gate by Rockingham's security staff."
Shame, I always look forward to this event, whether marshalling or spectating. I had a car load organised too.

Rockingham Stages is still open for all of you with VIP passes. I've been in touch with Cat Lund, her reply is as follows :-

"Hi Linda
It's OK we've taken the decision to let our marshal guests in, we'd ask that you park in the paddock, and instead of putting you in the Gemini suite just use the Welcome Centre for lunch, but access it via the tunnel from the inner paddock.
I don't have email addresses or phone numbers for anyone, so I can't let them know, so if you want to pass on the good news I would be grateful. Thanks a lot, see you tomorrow and be careful getting here!!
Cat"

So see you tomorrow.
Linda

From what I am hearing stages are being changed to accommodate the "warm" weather.

One change is the inner paddock will now be the service area

What a cracking weekend, thoroughly enjoyed it, bit spooky spending the weekend on what we call Post 10 though, especially with the 11 stages being run in many different confugurations with sometimes cars coming at you 'WD' and often with cars running both behind and in front of you. Interesting to see so many 'circuit' Marshals there, and great to have the final stage on Saturday run under darkness.
Special thanks to Sue & Paul for putting up with the ramblings of this old fossil over the weekend.

Very good weekend on point T ( after exit of turn 1) and also the right hand corner on the infield circuit just after the infield turn before turn 2. Had 3 to deal with Saturday, 1 breakdown, 1 in the gravel very deeply in and the Corsa on the exit of the hairpin on the banked turn 1 which was wd along this bit. Good clearence by the team as they were planning to stop the stage but we got out there and shifted it before rally control said stop. All in the dark too.
Quieter day Sunday but seeing a blue pug slide from exit turn 1 to for a long way was a sight to see. I am sure he could have reached the infield turn.
Good weekend with the rally guys on my area and it showed we can all work together. Thanks for a good event, I will be back for this next year.
