Can Jordan afford Fisichella?
Fisi's perfomed brilliantly this year. But I think he has a pretty high salary. And seeing how Jordan need cash...what if they simply cannot afford Fisichella?

Fisi's just never going to catch a break, is he?
Ferrari should have signed him years ago... |

Let us hope for Jordan's sake that he can afford to keep Fisi. Undoubtedly the most under-rated driver in F1.
Jordan can't afford not to keep Fisi though, especially if Sato and Davidson are the alternatives. Jordan needs two drivers who can bring home points, not two who like to chuck it in the gravel trap. |

Jordan needs Fisi
Jordan needs Fisi to attract future sponsors which they desperately need. Without Fisi, they would be pushing to convince sponsors that they have any chance at all of podiums next year. The other driver will be selected on commercial considerations (see todays F1-Live). As much as we all love Eddie Jordans cars, the stark facts are that Jordan simply don't have enough cash in Kitty to go racing next year.

I have to agree - EJ's team is financially unstable. That is the sad part, and Fisi is caught up in it.

very true.......but what we are talking about is getting Fisi in a top team that can win.........it doesnt matter how stable Renualts finances are....if they arnt a winning team , then they arnt much better than driving a Jordan......Fisi needs a Williams , Mclaren of a Ferarri .

There would be no point of Fisichella going to Ferrari while Schumacher's still there. Fisichella-Raikkonen at McLaren would be better.

I think Fisi would be happy to take a pay-cut though to stay in the team. Not all drivers are money-grabbing fools who put money before driving.

If Fisi has a firm contract for 2003, then EJ has to pay him even if he doesn't race. Therefore, unless someone else is bringing a lot more cash than he's paying out to Fisi, why would he swap him??

Let's be honest, Fizzi is one of the few plus points EJ currently has, without him they would be in dire straits.

Can Jordan afford to keep Fisi? Better question, can Jordan afford not to have Fisi?
Without Fisi (or another top-line driver), the sponsorship appeal of the Jordan team really does start to waver. One thing that makes me very curious, is why does'nt a top team hire Fisi. Most punters believe he's great. The media think highly if him. The team managers always have nice things to say. So whats the problem? Do the powers that be know something we don't? What is it thats stopping the red, white and silver boys from demanding his services? Last edited by Wrex; 25 Nov 2002 at 10:05. |

Probably because Ron is convinced that Kimi is better, and Frank knows that JPM is better. It is very competitive at the top!! If Ron fired DC after next year, then Fisi might be in with a chance.

I think that would be one of Fisi's only chances really

Fisi alongside JPM at Williams would be a good line up.

Fisichella is defiantely more deserving of a top 3 seat that Ralf or DC in my mind, but he won't get a competitive car at Jordan. Hopefully one of he top teams will see sense soon enough to save his career. he ahs trounced Button, Sato and Wurz, all of whom were mega-hyped when they got teamed with him.

Well, Ralf says he wants to go work for Niki, so maybe Fisi might get a job at Williams in the future. Who knows?
