No cars on the track until Friday. I'll be there Thursday, so I'll try to scoop this one. They probably won't put driver names on the cars until after the announcement, though.

That is classic!

He's announcing his driver lineup at Friday warmup!
The press gets to look at the helmets and report on who's driving!

That means we can't really change our fantasy teams in time. Not very considerate of him.

I think you just take a car # with DCR. The driver is hairy today gone to turn 3 wall Sunday ... or something like that.

IMO this is a bad move by DCR. When Friday rolls around the team should be completely focused on the task at hand instead of wasting time announcing their driver lineup and new sponsors when they could have that over by Thursday.

You're right, Dov, but this is what Dale Coyne has done. This is MO. He keeps making late announcements; why is he going to change?

I suspect part of the reason for this is that he won't be 100% sure which drivers he's putting in the cars until Thursday.

Because of our special admiration for Coyne, anyone who wants to fill an empty seat with a Coyne driver can do so. But no booting anyone already signed to make room for one!

I can't imagine why he's leaving it so late. The chances are that he doesn't know wo will be dirivng the cars yet, and won't announce them until the last minute in case someone else comes with a bigger wallet. ENge and Servia are probably the most talented guys who've been linked, but since when did Oriol have any funds?

Maybe he's cashing in his Lotto ticket. We had a local guy who kept his $30 mil win a secret for nearly a year until he had his plans in hand!

According to one of the posters at Champweb, Coyne is testing today on the infield track at Fontana.

It doesn't take long to go to the media center & make an announcement. There's nothing going on, until after 9 AM Friday, anyway. I don't think Dale will be unloading & setting up the cars.

Oriol Servia and Tarso Marques are both testing for Dale Coyne Racing today at Fontana. However, in speaking with Dale Coyne himself, he said, "The drivers testing do not necessarily mean that they are the drivers that will be announced on Friday."

From Chamweb. The mystery continues, where is Enge?

Tomas Enge is in Barcelona.

Today he was 8th (out of 16) in the F3000 tests.

Enge is definitely doing the F3000 season, but it's possible he may fit in some Champ Car races where he has the time.
